re: Questions??
I was going to post this on the match thread but thought it may be better here as it is a question for us all?
ts been said that the standard of professional football is better than it used to be as more and more of the better players cascade down the leagues as more foreign players come in and so does anyone think this increases the gulf between the fledgeling 18-21 group starting out as most of ours do, is why we are suffering and have a problem winning matches? We can't expect them to be as physically capable as most of the more seasoned Pro's but hope that the more skilful among them can make the crucial difference but as we know there are not many naturally gifted players that come along like a Nick Powell and even he is finding it hard.
I just wondered if we are expecting too much of them?
Although the club and some others may argue that D2 is a better launching pad for our youngsters, when you look at how Tranmere and Carlisle are suffering in L2, even that league is not

re: Questions??
[quote="Fidler"]The defence looked more than shaky today. The positional play was dreadful at times with the opposition forwards given free rein with lax marking resulting from all four goals being scored from the centre of the goal. The opposition through ball so often found their forwards easily outpacing our defence. Our forward line looked pretty insipid with too much passing sideways and backwards instead of breaking quickly on occasion as the Orient did with good effect. Things did improve in the last 20 minutes when Crewe made three substitutions with Cooper looking a bit of handful. He showed potential but needs to watch getting into the referees book which he has done on a number of occasions recently - he must be near to being suspended from matches. All in all I am sorry to say that it is going to take a marked improvement to remain in this Division on todays evidence. I am sorry to say that the Manager in my opinion put a gloss on todays proceedin

re: Questions??
I'm no Tootle fan , never seen the merit of a full back that can't defend, but he isn't in the team at present because he's injured so not worth debating.
I am puzzled as to what makes George Ray and automatic choice when fit, can anyone shed any light on that ?

re: Questions??
It is worth debating that you are wrong supercrewe.
He was out a month ago with flu. 2 weeks later we were told he needed a weeks training under his belt, and last home game most people saw him walking about with Luke Murphy.
No injury. A month of flu - defo debate in that ;)

re: Questions??
Ray Automatic choice as he is from the Academy thats the Policy! Kamikaze Policy.

re: Questions??
Nothing like a heavy defeat to bring out the "anti academy" brigade.

re: Questions??
Most of my questions covered above but a few more:
Where was Brandy yesterday? (may have been covered by local media but I was out and about and missed it).
Why did he acknowledge the possibility of bringing a striker in before the w/e when our loan quota was full and we could n't bring anybody in?
Why have we got three loan players who could n't even make the 18 man match day squad yesterday? (see Brandy question and Ray comments - there is absolutely no point in Tate being here if he is n't going to play whe fit).
Why is the thinking so sloppy and shoddy? We signed a striker for a month who could n't play in the two cup games and loaned one out who could've played for us but refused permission for him to play in the cup games for the team we loaned him to. We actually voluntarily depleted our own squad numbers. You don't have to know a lot about football to identify what a poor piece of thinking that was...

re: Questions??
Frankly, I am no happier with a defeat of any magnitude than anyone else is, but to persist in calls to ditch or downgrade the Academy are bizarre as this is what has sustained the club over the last 20 or 30 years

re: Questions??
Those who went to see the FA Youth cup game in midweek seem very optimistic about the players coming through from that team, so without the Academy we would not have that to look forward to and instead we would be relying on aging professionals who have no real interest in playing for the club other than to get a final payday which knowing our wage structure, wouldn't be very big. So, therefore we would be heading towards Conference or lower. So, for me, Academy it is!
