re: John Bowler MBE
A well deserved honour for a decent hard working man who hasn't taken from the Club but continues to give it his valuable time and experience - I hope he has a successor lined up when the time comes who is half as good. 27 years as Chairman without significant fan discontent shows he must have got quite a lot right.

Yes, he's clearly not spending enough time bigging himself up on Twitter or telling the media he was responsible for signing our best players.
Seriously, I'd like to add my heartfelt congratulations - had very limited dealings with him (as I'm sure most of us have, he's accessible in the real world as opposed to the media world)- and he is unfailingly courteous.Decent, understated, conscientious - did n't realize he's 77 - we'll miss him when he decides it's time to take a back seat.

When you see others in their late 70s making prize prats of themselves (yes, Dave Whelan, this means you IMHO), it's nice to feel proud, and not have to blush with shame.

re: John Bowler MBE
Congratulations and I echo the compliments on the thread to date.
I think that's 3 major "awards" to JB in a little over 12 months following gongs from the Football League and the LMA. Plus 2 MBEs at the club so we must be doing something right.
Spoke to a chap from S****horpe recently (before losing to them) who turned out to be a director at SUFC. One of the first things he said, was "what a nice guy JB is". I don't know him personally other than shaking his hand in the club lounge post Wembley and, again, he was nothing but affable and approachable to the everyday fan. And that's before we say "Thanks" for a great job over the last 34 years.
Proud to be a supporter of CAFC.
