Deadwood? I find that an insult.
We play better when he's on the pitch, did you notice he was missing from the Fulham game?
Frecks has been one of my favourite players in recent seasons and I still feel he has something to offer coming off the bench. His injuries have certainly hampered him but I'd much rather see him coming on as a substitute than Green.
He was playing really well against Norwich until he got injured so don't write him off just yet. UTM.
I wouldn't say he was past it, or 'dead wood'.
He's not going to run 30 yards and stick one in the top corner in the Championship, but Smallwood aside, he's on par with the rest, and, as far as squad players go I'd imagine he's on a lot less than most of our midfielders. If he gets back to 100% fitness I still think he'd be a solid player in this division, don't forget the sows over at the sty were interested in him when we were in League 1.
I think one of the main problems with him is our expectations. In League 1 he was running this show, he was everywhere, one of our best players and often the best player on the pitch. He doesn't have that same impact at this level, but that's not to say he's not a decent player.
Ok ok the use of the word 'deadwood' wasn't meant like that ..., I meant paying a wage with expectations not met from a player at Championship level....someone said keep him in case we go down for league 1 next season.... We're not a charity!
Yes he still has something to offer but I stand by what I say that this season in the Championship is too much for him and others around him... This is a high tempo skilful demanding league and I now think he's better suited to league 1...he simply hasn't the stamina like he use to have....it comes to them all in time..,.
Great player for us in the past but we need fit hungry players and there's better out there now..,
I know players leaving clubs is part of football, but hes seen that many players come and go, he must be dizzy..but evans must rate him..hes not sent him to bury yet..
Frecks has done a great job for us but as IBS and others have said the Championship is a step too far.
Peterborough and Frecks himself knew that when he joined us.
Looks like he has the vote from the Gaffer. Frecks has just beend as club captain.
Frecks has been given vote of confidence and I think he can still do a job. If anything, being given this honour will inspire him. He does know the club and importantly, he knows SE. He doesn't agree with our current syle of play but maybe that is about to change.
Some people know nothing. ;)
