re: OT: Asylum seekers and public opinion
Of course you've over-simplified it John. One minute you're talking to us about a dead toddler, the next you're telling us we should accept more people. Accepting more people isn't going to stop people dying when their boats capsize, is it? So what do you think Europe should be doing?
Also, is there any chance you could quit the morally superior routine? Why on earth do you think your grandchildren would see YOU as being on the right side of this debate? You have absolutely no idea what the political landscape is going to look like in the next 50-100 years. You have no idea what the continued effect a burgeoning muslim population will have on the Uk in years to come. Increased racial tension, violence, serious civil unrest and god knows what else could be the end game to mass immigration. Silly thing to say when you can't predict the future.
re: OT: Asylum seekers and public opinion
all the asylum seekers should be asked if they want free travel to the usa, they might think twice then before they go in bombing again.
unreal we are now going to cherry pick which asylum seekers we want from the camps :s
re: OT: Asylum seekers and public opinion
Even bigger yawn. Talk footy
re: OT: Asylum seekers and public opinion
John. You have twisted and contorted to fit your ongoing political agenda, however we must help these people without playing the political card. Until ISIS is destroyed these people need our help and support and we shouldn't turn our back on them.

Going back to the cause in the first place..
I'm not one for conspiracy theories personally. That said, I have watched an excellent, and very disturbing documentary on YouTube called:
September 11 The New Pearl Harbour
The documentary is almost 5 hours long. I defy anyone to watch the first half hour and not want to watch the remaining four and a half hours.
As I said before, I'm not one for conspiracy theories but this one I found astonishing.
The cause? Bombers? What bombers? Despite all those 'bombers' going through four different airports, with all those hundreds of cc TV cameras all over the place (car parks, restaurants, check in desks, security desks, boarding at the gate) , there was only one still frame of two 'bombers' going through an airport check-in desk. Oh, and conveniently with the date and time removed from the picture. Strange that this was the only snap of the 'bombers' which couldn't be traced to the date of 9/11. The American Governm
re: OT: Asylum seekers and public opinion
Each time I read this board I worry more and more about attending NY Stadium. I must be surrounded by deluded do-gooders and crack-pop conspiracy theorists.
On the subject in hand, bringing 10/1000/10000 Syrians into the UK won't make a jot of difference. The issue needs resolving at source by destroying Muslim fundamentalist or crackpot regimes. I for one won't be taken in by a photo - do people not realise children have been perishing like this for the last 8 months? Just what did they think was happening to the people on those boats.
A final point. All these people volunteering their spare rooms on online forums etc. I should call their bluff and drop 5 Syrians off at each this weekend. #bandwaggonsocialists
re: OT: Asylum seekers and public opinion
Herbie, you're talking cobblers. I can assure you Atta and co existed. They learned to fly at Venice airport which is about 15 minutes down the road from me. They rented a house that I pass daily and they often used local restaurants and bars. I know loads of people who met them.
re: OT: Asylum seekers and public opinion
Herbie, the reason it's not more widely known about is because everything in it has been said and debunked for the last 14 years. It's a load of rubbish.
re: OT: Asylum seekers and public opinion
DV: You must be so proud that you are incapable of feeling empathy for your fellow human being. I should call your bluff and say if you can get 5 Syrians to my house this weekend then I'll put them up. #cynicalheartlessmorons
re: OT: Asylum seekers and public opinion
Very public spirited of you michaeldc, but it is not temporary lodgings these people are wanting.
The last annual housing start figures for local authorities and housing associations was thirty odd thousand,
The last net annual migration figure was more than ten times this figure.
If this new influx is encouraged and continues, where are our kids to live?
The only sane solution is fully funding the regional refugee camps, and not to encourage our Western forces in their creation of chaos and new bogey men in the Middle East to further some crackpot plan.
