re: Arbroath 2 - 0 Stirling Albion
You know what, given the start to the season I would much prefer a dull and boring, counter attacking mentality if it means we can slowly climb the table. Leave the entertaining stuff until we have a bit of confidence.
What was with the temperature yesterday? Never known it to be so warm at Gayfield before :)
re: Arbroath 2 - 0 Stirling Albion
I don't see any "moaning" above ... just a few reasonable observations. Not every comment need be considered either praise or criticism. Given our poor start, I don't think any Lichtie fan would sacrifice the points for a silkier or more attacking performance.
re: Arbroath 2 - 0 Stirling Albion
IMO we started the game desperate not to lose an early goal and stop the rot. Losing 6 goals in our first 2 games and now none in our last 2 games is a great improvement and, whether or not some fans like it, the tactics worked. The players confidence will be boosted by 2 wins on the trot and hopefully will encourage them to start playing to their true potential, assuming they have been performing below par since the start of the league. Management team should also take confidence from 2 wins in a row.
Needs must and results matter so we are now off the bottom of the league. Let's concentrate on getting up the league and take it from there.
First visit to Gayfield for over 21 months and the sun shone on a Lichtie win.
re: Arbroath 2 - 0 Stirling Albion
Some people seem to have taken exception to certain parts of my post yesterday. If you read it correctly I did say I hate to appear negative but if we remove the maroon tinted spectacles we have to admit that things are not as they should be. With regards to attendance if we are 80 bodies down on last year's average on a day like yesterday then that equates to almost a £1,000 in lost gate receipts. There will always be the hardcore of season ticket holders and other regulars but it is the the floating support that we need to attract to boost attendance and income. I am not moaning about the team as they are only carrying out instructions, but we all know that Linn and Whatley are much better players than they are currently being allowed to be. There seems to be a reluctance in some quarters to accept the right to criticise - it seems that those who do are seen as lesser supporters. Not so in my opinion. Everyone who contributes to these forums are Arbroath supporters or we would not

I spent the whole of the game with my t-shirt and shades on and to add to my delight we got 3 points ;-)
Tough one for everyone involved, striking the balance between defensive numbers and getting up to help the forward seems to be proving difficult at the moment. Quite rightly (I believe) the former was preferred on Saturday.
I thought Stirling were pretty poor, not sure I actually saw them have a shot on target.
Fleming had his best game that I have seen, with Little again impressing. No failures yesterday as you could see (as a previous post pointed out) everyone was consciously carrying out the task they were given by the management team.
With a bit more confidence I know we can climb this league and get back to more entertaining and free flowing football.
C'mon the Lichties
