When Bowyer was sacked, I said that if the pattern of results (and bad luck) under his guidance had continued, I would have expected us to pick up about nine or ten points in the eight games before the end of the year. (That prediction was certainly doing GB no favours). At the same time, I said that 14 points from the same matches would represent significant progress and improvement for the new manager. Well, with two games to go, we have picked up 11 points, so I think PL is on track towards justifying the change at the top. The Boro game is going to be hard, but I'm reasonably confident we can beat Bolton. If we have got to 14 (or 15!) before 2016, Lambert will have done all that could be reasonably asked. If we win both games, we can look at the play-offs as a realistic target.
Totally agree aucks
on the positive side we have picked a decent points tally up under Lambert my concern is our second half
we press so much in the first we look completely different in the second
now if we score in the first then great because more often than not we look like we can hold out however if we don't then we really don't look like scoring in the second
we got undone by a brilliant strike today but on the training field we need to have a bit of finishing training
defensively we look good and to to a certain degree offensively but we just can't hit a barn door.
I'm hoping that this period of poor finishing is soon broken. Even many of the goals we HAVE scored have been either scrappy or lucky. At some point, I think this trend is bound to end, but I hope it's soon. A Rhodes hat-trick against Middlesbrough would be a good place to start, but they do seem to have a very good defence. :blue:
Let's hope the game against boro is one of those unexpected results the championship throws up quite regularly.
Emphasis on simple Howie! ;DQuote:

Yorky - I think we'd need four penalties to "stuff" them - or Philip Harben (only for people of a certain age!)Quote:
