re: Lumsden and Hislop depart - pt 2 potential replacements?
Jimmy Bone was player manager during his time at Gayfield.
A fews being bandied about but how many of those would actually apply for the job? We need someone who can make the players play to their strengths and get out of the losing habit, so I would think that we should tend towards an experienced manager and think about someone less experienced once we are safe from the relegation play offs.
I'm pretty sure the board will make a more considered decision over choosing the next manager than they did with the last.
re: Lumsden and Hislop depart - pt 2 potential replacements?
Of the posts so far, my dream team would be Campbell as a father figure with Barry Robson as a player assistant with a view to succeeding as manager in due course. The only niggle would be that D C would probably want to bring in his own team and Robson might not be part off it. One thing for sure, the board must make the right appointment this time.
re: Lumsden and Hislop depart - pt 2 potential replacements?
Let's be honest here. Given that we are recruiting now, Barry Robson is not an option. If we'd maybe saw out the season with Lumsden + Hislop, we might have been able to convince a player in their twilight to be player/manager.
As it stands, Robson is probably on a decent wedge at Aberdeen and still has an outside chance of winning the title with them. He's not going to leave that situation.
A player/manager is almost out of the question simply because it very rarely happens outwith the close season.
I'd imagine Campbell will be the appointment but we better get it done quick because it's only a matter of time before Cowdenbeath get rid of their manager.
