That depends on how you view Coyle really? And which part of his past managment you look at. The good or the bad.
What's worked, what hasn't . What we do know is, Irvine isn't staying. What we also know, based on last season, is that won't really be something we will miss. As it clearly wasn't effective enough. Going straight to bad, like most did (inc me) when Coyle was appointed. Straight to the worst case scenario.
In reality, with hindsight, that was an overreaction. We didn't know what was going to happen. So I'm prepared now to just see what happens with an open mind.

Maybe I was wrong to use as analogy, the singelling out footballers who play for your side one minute, then singing their praises the next. As that whole thing is radiculous. But not quite an overreaction. In my humble opinion, which is what all this is based on .....

I think the phrase : 'Praise where praise is due', applies perfectly here (esp towards our illustrious internationals!).
I am perfectly comfortable with my criticism of GH the season before last, he was pretty poor. For me it was the captaincy (too early? in difficult circumstances?). Does this mean I was harsh, I don't believe I was.
This last term he was a new man, and with that, overall the man of the season for consistency.
So the top line applies.
I would like to think that Grant went away from his poor season and 'got himself together' in order not to repeat it. So full credit there for dealing with it like a pro.

He is no world beater. But puts in the effort. He will have good seasons, and indifferent, because he is limited.
He isn't now worth £10m because of one good season, (especially following the previous season where I'm told he was that bad people had the right to get on his back) in the same way the offer of £1.5m, which was viewed as being massively under his actual value?
Like the values, the opinions sway from extreme to extreme. I guess that's football.

I still think the same transformation could happen with Adam Henley if we persevere with him. Surely the performances he put in against PL opposition in the Cup can't have been flukes.
