Jacob Butterfield... Hang your head in shame.

Don't subscribe to the 'let's all pick on Butterfield' rubbish but he does appear to have lost his way. Not all his fault, that's ridiculous...had JR taken his chance or the ref interpreted the 'penalty' differently then the outcome would have been different but it probably was a fair result imo. Back to Butterfield...there's a good player in there somewhere, as he showed on numerous occasions last season. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, I really can't remember him producing the goods since then.

That's how it appears to have been all his career. The truth is that he's developed the ability to make one think that there's a player in there somewhere when in fact there ain't!! This disguise has conned manager's to get him in only to discover that apart from a good left foot there's sod all else!!

He's also a wuss to boot

Even ducked his head to stop the ball hitting his face, we wouldn't want his beautiful face being bashed up a little now would we.

Too many fairies in our team, which adds to too many mentle frailties.

There were multiple culprits for that goal, and Buttercup defending almost from a seat in the stand was just one of them. He wasn't the only last line of defence who came up woefully short, and no-one is having an equal go at Bent! Mac needs to work on corner defending in generally, we are becoming soft touches in that area, four goals in three games tells its own tale

Bent's was just bizarre, but no one mentioned Chris Baird hitting it towards goal and catching Bent off guard. Butterfields was disgraceful, your taught to hold the line in school ffs.

I think he's a decent player on his day but his piss poor form of late has shoved him to the bench, I'm hoping it brings him back to the player he was. Same happened to Bradley, when we signed him from Norwich I thought he was awesome, then he played like a bloke with one leg at Forest and couldn't get back to playing like he was. He's playing much better again now but nothing like the form shown when he first got here!

When Jacob first came to Derby, he didn't tear up many trees. I defended him based on the not had time to settle, new role in a different system etc etc. Eventually, improvement came but you never really got the feeling that he would, or even could, take control of a game like we have seen Hughes do regularly.
He is back to the poor form of those early days and needs to step up or make way. Nothing against the lad but we need to start showing players that if they don't perform, others will get the spot.

Spot on Rob. Disappointing from a player who cost approaching £5m. You have to wonder about all the money that was spent during the Clement days. Lot's of expensive signings but imo only Ince, Carson, Pearce and possibly Baird have proved really worthwhile. Having said that, not many would have been saying that about the three outfield players a few months ago, so you never know.

Absolutely true. I see Butterfield as more of an attacking midfield player (Bryson is as well) but we ask him to play a different role. Whilst we haven't seen him dominating the midfield and being a play maker he has put in a lot of work that goes unnoticed.
