Statement? This Wasn't what I expected to read when I read the title.

Don't see how you can just blame the players and Warne is the innocent one.

Yes he's a nice guy but that doesn't mean he's immune to criticism.

Yes there are/might be players that are not good enough but the management put them on pitch.

A 'proper manager' would know how to get the best out of them, how to use them.

Against Villa Mattock should have been on instead of Purrington. IMO

New manager next season and all will be well with most if not all these players, keep Warne on and it will be another season in L1

Millertop I disagree. Purrington stick with him be a good player for us. Problem is on the left. Taylor can't play there. Newell would be better or D Ward if Morris at last is fit to play.

Midfield when Smallwood plays there's no forward movement. Frecks doesn't look fit.

Blackstock does anybody know were he was Saturday. That's one statement I want to hear that Dexter Blackstock has left the club.

Blackstock was sore just above his knee

Mattock is not going to be here next season, Purrington is.
Unfortunately for Joe, the injuries he has had have made him half the player he once was. Purrington will have some poor games as he continues to learn but will be an asset in league 1.

I know/understand this but Mattock would have been the better option against Villa, he can go forward and isn't afraid of passing the ball forwards.
Best players on the day for that team isn't it?

Sorry buddy but I don't agree. Mattock just isn't good enough anymore, its like he keeps going back to the well but there's no water left. It's a shame for him because he has been a good player. Purrington struggled against Villa and my worry is that all the defeats are affecting his confidence but he will do well next season for us and will only improve in the future.

Agree about Mattock Tony.

Come on topsy it's about looking at next season not picking the best team for the day , Purrington is the future, some players will have to be moved on unfortunately for Joe he may be one of them.

Saturday's game reminded me of a Sunday League match you might stop to watch for a few minutes whilst walking the dog. A game between two teams virtually devoid of any quality but offering the bystander lots of honest effort and roared on by enthusiastic diehard fans. Villa were terrible considering their outlay in transfer fees and alleged wages. yet we simply never looked remotely capable of scoring with so little cutting edge. We do have one or two players who should more than hold their own next season. However, on the flip side, Yates is starting to bother me, most fans keep on banging about how good he will be in League One next season. I'm not sure and still wonder if he will make the grade at all. he might just drift off into non league football unless he seriously ups his game. My opinion here and we all are entitled to those.

I was the only fan who attended the Newcastle game at home ( I went to the away one too btw ) - and the home match was special ! We lost but we played well.

The away match was awful !

No - the players are good enough - the coaching / management isn't good enough !

The players were good enough against Newcastle at home - sadly the coach that motivated that performance was sacked but given time he would have reproduced that level of performance - and given money within this last window we'd be fine !

But without AS we lost Izzy and now we haven't even got a coach.

You can only conclude that TS has accepted relegation when AS was sacked because TS was never going to finance a "championship" side - we can't afford one.

Just wish TS had given AS a first window and the time to enhance the playing staff into functioning even better than the Newcastle match....as a group !
