"That will be all from Sports Mole for this match. Thank you for sticking with us for the duration for what has truly been an unforgettable night. We have found out that City aren't perfect and that Wolves are a sleeping giant who are a promotion away from being awoken."
Lets hope eh?
Sounds like we did ourselves proud and no shame in that. Unfortunate to miss some of the chances but if Bright were a finisher, he'd be in the Prem already. We will probably see that opponent against next year. And we'd take a 0-0 draw at the Ethiad without question in those circumstances.
Due to circumstances entirely beyond my control I was unable to join in the match banter for this game (as I usually like to do).
However, I've been able to watch the entire game albeit 10 hours after the event. If there is any justice left in this world, then
the Wolves performance will be recognised, by all who love the game, as truly remarkable, something that we Wolfies will always look back on with great pride. Words cannot express the true extent of my admiration for what our young lads achieved today. It will find a place in the annals of memorable performances by those who wear old gold and black, and rightly so. Until now, I 've never held Danny Bath in great esteem, but today I think he came of age as a player and (dare I say it) a Captain. They were all bluddy marvellous !!! I hope I'm not being premature, but with Nuno at the helm I believe 'We're on our way' . Go You Wolves !!!:D
I'm so proud of the performance and effort put in last night, 120+ minutes from each and every Wolves player that took to the field. The result will show we lost on penalties, but in open play we didn't concede. Not many sides can or will say that this season against Man.City this season.
When the game kicked off and for thirty minutes it was game of Man. City attack against Wolves' defence with Wolves unable to create anything of note, but eventually when we did, we used the ball well.
I often think that possession of the ball is good, but only if you can create chances. Wolves did well when we had the ball and did create goalscoring chances. Four real chances that i can look back on and think "if only" we could've put one away. Bright Enobakhare is a big talent for Wolves, three decent chances he had, i'll start to worry when chances don't come his way. Helder Costa with the other chance. Bravo in the City goal definately played a part in the 120+ minutes and the penalty shoot-out.
Each and every Wolves player can hold their head up high, the backing from the 6000 fans was brilliant throughout. Despite defeat on penalties, i enjoyed the game.
We gave it our best shot, as with an earlier reply, i don't many sides this season will be able to boast a clean sheet against Man.City!
Pulis serves a purpose, i doubt he will get your side relegated, despite all the doom and gloom, i can understand your fans frustration regarding wanting to see entertaining football.
Thanks Gav, only one comment. Feck! Don't blame Bright though, I woudn't class any of his chances clear cut, just one on one with a very good goalkeeper and a short time to act. Did his best and that's that. Costa chance just took a bad bounce of his knee at the last moment. Just wasn't meant to be, great performance though.
