Regarding your much deserved holiday abroad. I don't know what destination you have in mind, but I do hope the USA or Australia are possibilities? Maybe you can join Dundee Hall of Fame potential candidate Stephen Thompson on one of his sojourns? Plenty of flight time for him to tell you how he single-handedly gifted the Dees 'Big Team in the City' status without them having to do anything whatsoever to achieve it (other than the Doon derby of course!).

By this time Jim McLean (a former Dee) is well installed at Tannadice, having sneaked the Big Team status in his back pocket when he left Dens and sets about turning Tanny intae the hame o' the Big Team. League reconstruction soon follows with the Dees ending in the lower tier, and except for a few brief flurries at proper recovery have been yo-yos between the tap tier and the tier below, either being in the main bottom feeders in the tap tier or tap feeders in the lower league, which continues to this day. Doon the road 'the wee team' usurped (guid word, eh?) the Dees 'authority by maintaining top league status (apart from a one season blip), reaching many more cup finals than the former big team did, and emulating if not surpassing their successes. Transfer of Big Team status well and truly enforced by the Jim McLean era. Dees formerly had the biggest crowds, but the change in fortunes swung this Shed's way which remains the same. 2014 sees the Shed on course for another Scottish Cup win, which ends in disaster. The following year this is followed up by another cup final (league cup) disaster. Nevertheless reaching cup finals in successive years shows clearly who is Dundee's Big Team. Alas, enter Stephen Thompson's 5 year plan and the rapid decline and relegation of Dundee United occurs with ST standing on the bridge of the sinking SS Tannadice, throwing away the Big Team baton which lands resoundingly back in the Halls of Dens Park, where it remains today, a much cherished acquisition by the Premier Division bottom feeders.Quote:
