Yep, I understand that we’re at least as ‘big’ as half the Prem in terms of tradition, achievement and fan base, MA...in fact probably a dozen Championship clubs could make the same claim. I just wonder if we’ll have enough funds, even with Mel’s generosity but relatively modest resources, to be able to finance success - given the need for 6-10 players - without additional investment from elsewhere.

Absolutely right Baalocks, not crossing bridges or ‘sucking Richards’ and there is a helluva long way to go. Just curious to see what it’s though we would need, what the cost might be and how it might be met. Of the clubs mentioned I think Burnley have to be the most praiseworthy. They seem to have done it on a relative shoestring. Bournemouth have obviously done well but they do owe a lot to new (Russian?) money...and lots of it.

Certs - Carson, Keogh, Davis, Wisdom

Maybes - Ledley, Huddleston, Thorne, Vydra

In other words, we'd need significant incomings, loan or purchase, and hope we can do it on team spirit / luck / grit.

It is worth noting though, that the game is a bit different, and so we could be surprised by someone who comes alive more.

Aren't we getting a bit ahead of ourselves here?

For this to work you would need your owners to actually agree to spend lots of cash.
I foresee the opposite. He'll take the bulk give some to make the backbone strong enough for a return to Tier 2. If you stay up then whatever earned can be used for season 2.
If you fall, he wants the team to pop back up.
Still earning money with another promotion.

Sheffield Wednesday fans are still slating his poor performances and i’m not surprised to hear that at all, he is going to be a huge problem for us to get rid off as Sheffield Wednesday look likely they won’t be buying him.

Really not ‘getting ahead of ourselves/myself’ Rom. Well aware of how hard the rest of the season will be and our proven capacity to self destruct, but half the fun of being a football supporter is pontificating about what might be.
Where’s the harm in asking...’just supposing we make it...what will we need?’

As regards Butterfield, Bryson and Martin, mista...if they’re surplus to requirement now I can’t see us needing them back in the future whichever division we’re in.
