Luggy signs for united!

There will be a section of support who will state that this is a PR stunt to get fans onside and sell season tickets. And there's undoubtedly an element of crowd pleasing going on here.

But.

Dundee United should be using the expertise of people across the footballing world who have an affinity for the club.

Luggy is died in the wool to be sure. But crucially, he has undeniable knowledge of the English game and it's common sense that we should utilise it. We should have tied him up to scout down south for us as an open contract for anytime he was out of work years ago.

If we can get some real gems then it'll all be worth it.

Long overdue. Using the Dundee United network to expand our recruiting knowledge should be a given.

Well - that's what it is....

I'm delighted he's back at the club - he's a legend, but I would be very surprised if Luggy hasn't been referring us players in an unofficial capacity for years so this just seems almost like a ceremonial title with maybe a bit of a wage.

Season ticket renewals coming this weekend - especially if we get a win at Brechin. Banker.

Is it good for Mike Martin? Yes

Is it a bit of an easy early PR goal for the new chairman and a way of helping shift season tickets? Yes

Is it a small but positive step to the club regaining it's identity? Yes.

The club has lost its identity for years. Especially once the self congratulatory Thompson era fun and games started. So even if it's a fair amount ceremonial it will help the club reclaim some of its historic identity and contribute in a small way to shaping the one we need going forward.

I hardly expect he's going to be recommending Harry Kane.

Does anyone seriously expect he will be watching anything about the conference national?

We are Dundee United not PSG.

I’m pretty sure luggy will be aware of financial constraints of club. In addition to that any signing should still be getting watched by the manager / chief scout DT.

No danger United are going to suddenly start paying 250k for Exeter centre forward.

Luggy based in south west so imagine he’d be aware if any decent kids down there not getting a game or non league stars
