Things have changed over here and child abuse makes all decent thinking folk’s ‘blood boil’, but it has never been the sole preserve of the ‘grooming gangs’.
There are plenty of establishment figures who are just as culpable. Savile was the tip of a very, very unpleasant iceberg while his unlikely friendship with Thatcher and a number of her political allies has never received the attention it deserves. Heath (possibly), Smith and Janner - to name but three (with political impartiality) took years to be exposed even to the extent that they have.
I’m no ‘apologist’ for anyone and I loath terrorists and those who abuse the vulnerable equally, but it is interesting how much more media attention has been spent on exposing the - largely poor Asian - grooming gangs in comparison to the - largely white and wealthy - establishment abusers.
