He hasn't penny pinched. He invested heavily last season to make us competitive so it could be argued he does speculate to accumulate.

I'm sure TS,s knows what the risk reward equation is for him as an individual in the cship and he's not willing to take more risks like Blackstock and Halford at the expense of his grandchildrens inheritance

He's had his fingers severely burnt in recent seasons including the 80 or so Evans players and it may be some time before he reassesses the situation

I can’t say that I have counted, but I have certainly made the observation more than once.

Whatever the number of times I have made the point, the figure pales into insignificance compared to the number of times that others have posted about we only need to sign this type of player or that type of player or only need to pay £x thousand per week to get the player that we need.

The number of times I have made the point vastly outnumbers the number of posters who have said that they would pay more to allow us to sign the type of players that they want to see. I’ve asked the question more than once (but probably less than six) as to how much more people are willing to pay for their season tickets to try to buy success in the Championship and generally get a nice round number – zero- of posters who confirm that they would be willing to pay any additional price.

I don’t agree that the word speculation implies imprudence.

Relegation certainly reduces the level of income for the club. Stewart is inevitably well aware of that. His aim is clearly to keep the club operating within the limits that he is able and willing to support it, however.

Keeping the club finanically stable, means making decisions about the amount that should be made available to try to avoid relegation. That is obviously very difficult given the uncertainty involved. If Stewart makes the calculation that Championship survival would require a level of expenditure that exceeds the loss of income that would flow from relegation, he has to make the decision whether Championship survival is worth what he thinks it would cost him. I don’t envy him in making such calculations.

And why does it matter to you? You have told us more than once (but maybe not six) times that you are not going to follow Rotherham any more. Perhaps you were just ‘doing a wendun’.
