Funnily enough, looking out of my window with everything in bloom and nature at work, not once has it reminded me of the death of Diana. I see your point but I guess the volume of flowers that were laid in her memory pale in insignificance to the volume laid across the country every single day of the year in the memory of loved ones. Most of them end up in compost heaps somewhere.

but seriously though, which is best £500k of rotting flowers going to landfill or the same £500k going to a worthy cause?
Nothing to do with happiness, more to do with practical use, a lasting use and a better tribute.
