It is good but the timing of the first round is all wrong. It forces clubs to treat it as pre-season which isn't right.

Personally I think it’s great. Like the hearts game last season you are missing football and then it comes back !!!

It is ideal for getting teams ready for start of season and just right level of seriousness

Some teams are playing European matches at that time so can’t say it is too early
