Peter had a magnificent Pink crash hat, and I remember stood on the open end as a lad and either a cross or corner came over and he dived at a right angle to the line catching the ball in mid air. I was amazed at it. Ended up in Scarborough as a Policeman, sadly dying quite young. I think.

I was glad when we dropped Phil Whitehead and brought in Lee Butler. And for a while Butts was really popular, but he lost it eventually. Same as Kevin Miller really, who became a liability.

Saying that the worst goalkeeping display I've ever seen was from Vitto Mannone who came on loan from Arsenal and played in a Sky game at Preston around 2006 , he was so out of his depth it wasn't true .
To be fair he ended up having a good PL career at Sunderland but that night at Deepdale is clearly something I've never forgotten .
