More questions than answers this deal for me with what's emerged if true .
I don't mind loans if there's a genuine opportunity to buy them .
If indeed we are going to buy him why haven't we bought the lad today then ?
Spud says he's been on our radar for a while .
Probably just signed to secure our Championship status ASAP nothing more nothing less.
I think if that was the sole intention then they would have signed an experienced tried and tested striker.
This one - could either swim or sink.
Swim - cos there’s real potential there.
Sink - cos he can’t adapt to Britain - and/or - he can’t cope with the intensity of the Championship.
I don't see how that works Poggy in all honesty .
The lads 20 years old and coming to english championship football , he's far from the finished article and pretty raw .
Now if we'd signed the lad then I get it totally because the lad does appear to have very good potential .
Bring him on steady , a good pre season behind him with a view to giving him a good go next season when he's settled in the UK and has had a bit of a taste of championship football .
It's likely he will be going back to Orlando in May if the reporting is correct about the fee , doesn't make sense to me .
That fee can't be right in my opinion , absolutely no way is this kid a $20m player with that number of games behind him and playing in the MLS , which isn't exactly a great standard .
The same logic would value Callum Styles at £50m .
$2m would be a benchmark figure , around £1.4m which would be right in our range , our kind of development signing .
That to me would make more sense in my opinion and explain the loan with a view to signing with possible cash flow problems at this end due to the financial restrictions caused by the pandemic .
Some sky tv revenue in and another 8k ST's and we can probably pay the $2m .
Still pyssed about Pickering by the way .... £650k ...... arghhhh ...... feckin hell !!! .
Just been reading Orlandos website.
Don't get attached to Daryl.
$20m for 80% of him.
That option to buy is just fan fodder.
Chien and Conway would be popping pills for a year if we had to pay that much.
Just my opinion Animal I think this lad looks well advanced for his years and could well provide a much better option than Victor, Miller and Schmidt who is probably leaving anyway.
I don’t think for one minute that this lad will become a permanent signing. With the valuation fee quoted across the the Atlantic then if this anything to go by we could well be in for a short term treat.
I’m certainly not going to knock this short term bit of transfer business.
There’s a guy on YouTube saying his current value is $3.3 Million.
Which would put him in the range of the directors.
But - IMO the sticking point is can this young guy do the job.
He’s got to find his feet in a new country, adapt to a different culture and play in a very difficult league.
Jury is well and truly out.
If he does the job - he’ll be staying.
Or he could be the next Ugbo. Who knows? Nowt against the lad but I can't say I'm happy with this signing. I'd rather stick with our own players and develop them. He could come in and take Victor's place, then feck off back to America leaving Victor short on experience and game time.
