Money talks!! is anyone so naive that they actually believe that you cannot jump the queue if you can afford it? I saw Tom Jones admitting on breakfast tv last week that he had his 2nd jab over a fortnight ago(you work it out if he has had to wait the 12 weeks in between jabs) yes he is now over 80 but my 88 yr old mum is still awaiting her 1st. I would like to know (or perhaps I wouldn't) how many Prem players, pop stars, actors, MPs etc have managed to be in the right place to stop a jab being wasted meanwhile I await my turn.

Look im not interested what the rich are doing we all know they arent playing by the same rules as us.

I know that if hospitals are very very careful with the jabs there MIGHT be spare doses at the end of the day ....what do you think is the best thing to do is throw em away or jab a few extra random people ?

My guess is you will need to be lucky or know someone in the medical department and you only have short notice to get it something some wont be able to arrange.

The hospital will make sure all people down for a jab on the day get it but some may not turn up for some reason like illness so if that happens one dose is spare etc.

I wouldnt think any top footballers have had them as if they had how are they still getting Covid at Man City ??

If an 88yr old has not yet been offered a jab somethings gone wrong with the system as they are now doing the 70-75s. This is nothing to do with money and instead of whingeing on a message board get in touch with her surgery.

Some 80+ got their jabs early and if it was done at their surgery rather than at the big vaccination centres then their doctors may well be uncomfortable with breaking from the terms of the drug licence and be doing the second after 3 weeks. I know of one such octogenarian and it certainly isn't money.

The full story of the Chesterfield jabs hasn't been made clear. Their ground was being used as a vaccination centre. Whilst I would prefer teachers, front line workers and a whole host of others being done if they weren't there when the vaccine was about to be otherwise chucked out what do you do? There will always be no shows, or a batch opened that means there is more available than people booked. Maybe they just asked that some club folk hang around and some of them might get a dose. I'd rather see it used than not used. It's a numbers game.

I see some folk have taken to jumping on Captain Tom and his Barbados trip again in the absence of full facts which seriously are not really any of anybody else's business.

If you and your Mum haven't been jabbed it is not because of what someone else is doing, it's about what you are NOT doing. Get off of here and get on the case.

PS I got my letters Friday and was jabbed Friday night. Didn't cost me a penny other than a bloody long queue in The Forest at 10pm.

Somee people have already had their second injection - the woman who was the first to get vaccinated has already had her second dose. There's isn't a blanket 12 week rule as far as I know, it's a bit of a moving feast, so any time between 3 and 12 weeks.

Some people I know have been vaccinated. They're are NHS, but not front line. They just happened to be easily contactable when there was spare vaccine at the end of the day. So far, there's been very little (?any) evidence of money buying vaccines, and with social media, you would expect that to have leaked by now.

Your poor mum should have been contacted by now surely? She needs to contact the surgery to check she's not been missed.

Ancientpie - Best thing to do is what Cher said and contact doctor/NHS to make sure your mum is a priority, all the best.

Over here in Israel, there were Facebook groups where people would post if they heard there were spare vaccines at a particular centre at the end of the day, and people would dash out to try to get one. Makes sense given that the Pfizer vaccine has to be used the same day once it’s defrosted.

I’m 54, but get my second shot this Saturday - about 8 weeks before my 82-year-old mum gets her second shot in England.

Firstly if anyone thinks I'm having a go at the NHS or indeed Captain Tom I apologize, I am fully aware of the fantastic job that they have & continue to do & was trying to make the point that the rich & famous always have & always will find a shortcut, money talks!! My mums situation has arisen because she is housebound & needs a home visit, after numerous attempts & finally a 2 hour wait in the phone queue I was informed 2 weeks a go that they hadn't started yet, I have been unable to get through to that number (the one given on the invite letter) since. Apparently most of the questions have now been passed to Gedling Borough Council who I have contacted 3 times to be told 2 days ago that a roving team was now being rolled out & we would hear very shortly, meanwhile I have been in touch with the Surgery 3 times to check mum's on their list & try to chase it up. I am a patient man & trying to reassure Mum that after waiting a year an extra week or so means little but please O P don't accuse me of letting my mother down by not caring or doing nothing, if i hear nothing before then I will be back on the phone Monday.

Both my wife's parent have had theirs. Mum 88 and Dad 91. We took them both to the Herod Centre at Carlton, so not too far away from your neck of the woods.

Hi matey hope you're well, mum had her invite but cannot get so requires a home visit, obviously this is more time consuming when they are trying to get the numbers up so understandable in a way, I am booked into the Herod Centre on the 13th so we are getting there, have had a massive bet (10p) with the Old Gal that I get mine 1st. Your original comments seemed to imply that the rich and famous were responsible for your Mum and you not getting your jabs. You've now clarified that this is not the case and that after making lots of effort you are getting somewhere (which is all I was suggesting you do) with getting your jabs. So well done for being on the case, sorry it has not been a smooth ride and hope all gets cleared up quickly.
