Thanks chuck - at least there’s someone on this message board who can find their way around a smart phone.

The official announcement had been made - this other statement came quite a while after.
It should IMO have come at the same time.
And that’s why I will always consider Danny Wilson as a true gent.
When he left to join Wendy he said something on the lines of this ……
…… I had no problem in joining Sheffield Wednesday because it is my club …… my problems concerned leaving Barnsley.

Things like that stay with you.

It would be impolite of me not to offer a few words on Ismael's departure.

Ammaz 'appy azza pig in muck that Ismael has gone. "Absolutely lol" as the kids say. A few single malts were quaffed last neet in celebration. He wo probably the worst role model for young fans in the history of Barnsley FC manager/ coach appointments. My joy is based around two main issues--

1. He was a cheat who thought himself above the Covid rules that applied to everybody else. Thanks to Animal posting links abart his sacking at LASK we farnd art abart the morals of the man and his sacking, something which strangely has never once been mentioned on BBS. The Austrian Govt/FA introduced rules in the middle of the global pandemic that no club could resume training until a certain date. Ismael ignored these rules and brought his team back early to gain a football advantage by cheating on other clubs in the league. Instead of following the rule to only then engage in individual/ small group training for a period he then had full group training. The Austrian FA rightly thought this cheating was bang out of order and docked LASK points, leading to Ismael's sacking.
Step forrad the Barnsley FC owners/ CEO showing no moral principles about cheating and brought in the unemployed (cheap and available) Ismael.

2. The worst football tactics and entertainment seen at Oakwell for a generation consisting of Ismael barking out numbers abart which triangle to form on which side of the pitch to close darn teams trying to play out from the back and midfield by-passed by hoofing the ball from defence to anywhere up the pitch and chasing the ball. The novelty worked forra while but he was sussed by the last ten games of the season with opponents simply not playing art from the back and matching the physical stuff as the ball came darn from the sky into their half. Wednesday, Coventry, Preston, Swansea had Ismael sussed at the end.

The final furlong found Ismael out. It wasn't quite Devon Loch but the thundering hooves of the also- rans were finding us art and the thoroughbreds who finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd over the full season were worthily promoted. Bugger off Ismael. Football cheat and horrible to watch football. Good riddance.

I am sure my views will be respected and tolerated as is usual on here and not result in personal abuse if they happen to differ from other opinions.

Got the bloke free had him 9 months sold him for 2. Million... if that was a player we'd all be raving on about a tidy bit of business .

I don't agree with much of what you've said SB. I think Val has had a positive affect on the club. I'm also pleased that the decision has been made and sorted out quickly by both parties. I hope we do get back to more of a Stendl style of football, although Val's style wasn't all bad. I respect your opinion. No doubt you'll be fully researching Val's successor lol.

He's gone and we move on. I would like to thank him for giving us a great season and wish him all the best in his next venture.

We all make mistakes in life. The Covid rule breaking was a serious blunder and a big blot on his copy book. However, tha can't turn back the clock. I sincerely hope that he's learned a valuable lesson and has become a better man for it. We all must strive to forgive. The world would be a better place if we could all learn to forgive and allow folk to atone for their wrongdoings.

He did a great job with a squad that just avoided the drop in the previous season. To finish 5th was an outstanding achievement and has landed him a bigger job. The tactics and style he used were sometimes unpleasant to watch but I also felt the team played some good stuff at times too. I've never seen a more energetic and committed side in my 35 years.

Ismael provided us with a much needed lift during a difficult time for many folk. I thank him once again and wish him luck in the future.
