Unlike many clubs around us - the potential of Barnsley Football Club has never been realised - basically because we have never had any period of lengthy success.
A high in fortune has soon been followed by a dip.

I’ll not say much here about this topic - as IMO it’s a big subject that deserves its own thread.

It's a shame the owners always think small in terms of incoming transfers. Bringing in a couple of experienced players around the £2 million to £3million mark would massively improve the team. Just over £1million is the owners ceiling but it is usually cheaper youngsters that fans have to watch develop.

My main concern with the transfers is when they have gone big. Schmidt, Thomas, Kane these players have turned out to be sh1te.

But their stats and video clips were brilliant. How does that work ?

Add up a few million pound mistakes such as Schmidt, Thomas, Wilks, Kane and tha could have had a couple of proven players such as Whiteman, Dykes, James, even a Hourihane.

Just out of interest Animal, I think there might be some truth in him being called a one season wonder and that it was beginners luck etc. To be honest I don't think we would have made the Play offs this time, about top 8 maybe, at best.

Well - fortunately we have a litmus test.
And that test is in the shape of West Brom.
Even tho there are some high powered teams in this league that are rammed with quality players such as Fulham, Bournemouth and Sheffield United - I wouldn’t bet against West Brom not getting promoted.
And that will be down to one fella - Valerian Ismael.

I thought WBA were a Premiership team last season and have retained most of their players. I thought the main problem for Ismael would be the ex Premiership players not fancying the hoofball tactics and bullying management style that worked with young kids.

Ismael wanted out of Barnsley Nudge and took Murray and Mowatt with him. As I said before it's unrequited love and time to let go.
