It's an interesting discussion is this, around 2 or 3 weeks ago, Bradford PA had a game abandoned against Chorley, after a Bradford player sustained a serious injury following a tackle.
The referee initially booked the player who made the tackle, but changed it to a red card once he realised the seriousness of the injury, although the game ended up being abandoned as the ambulance hadn't arrived nearly an hour later.
My question would be, do you think the ref sent the player off in the end to protect him from maybe an opponent seeking retribution, or would you think it was because the yellow card didnt suffice because of the seriousness of the injury, also taking into account the Leeds v Liverpool game which looks like the red card was for the seriousness of the injury and not necessarily the seriousness of the challenge...........hope this makes sense and this is the link to the Bradford PA incident.
