The squad is NOT as good as it needs to be, and the failures of the recruitment policy is at the heart of the issue (I'll drop a little note or two on that in the relevant thread). We continually FAIL to get value for money, we CONTINUALLY recruit players with a record on injury in the faint hope that we can "fix" them (when it's pretty obvious that Bielsaball is unlikely to fix what is already broken), we have a senior management team with a collective myopia when it comes to where the new players might come from )yeah, the xenophobe surfaces), ignoring the resource pool in the UK for reasons that escape me (and no, the players in lower league teams are NOT always "too expensive" (one example of many that are easy to find, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, played just 10 times for his "home" team, Blades, having spent nearly 10 years in total on Blades' books, and joined Everton for £1.62m, someone spotted a bargain, huh?).
It's a case of doing the hard graft that scouting networks used to do (and some still do, obviously), as opposed to staring at laptop screens and glopping away at statistics without understanding what lies behind them. That will never happen at Leeds (at least not at the moment), and you know why? Orta, isn't it always?
