I don’t agree Notts78. Slow build up is very relevant. For a start, all the opposition defenders are in position to defend and that usually means 2 defenders in place to handle Roberts. Upping the intensity means everything happens quicker. It’s much easier to run at a defender than to beat them from a standing start.

I think we can agree to disagree, and without falling out ��.
The other side of the coin to your point is that, if 2 players are marking Cal, which Notts player is free? The other point is that if Cal is marked by 2 and he beats them with a step over, that is 2 players out of the game and Notts have an ‘overload’.
Personally I don’t see intensity as the issue but rather the players having confidence to play through the lines.
I mentioned in my previous post that Palmer vacated the central midfield area, and what it did was create a massive hole where Notts CB’s could play a ball to Woots, along the floor. Woots was pointing to where he wanted it - his right foot. The ball simply didn’t go to him.
Watch it today, and if things are the same as the last game you will see exactly what I am referring too. You will need to be in the Kop to appreciate my point.

I’m not one for falling out Notts78 and you do make some valid points.
Carlton Pie said previously that our slow build up was not playing to someone’s strengths and I believe that applies to most of our forwards. It’s very frustrating coming short for the ball, or making a forward run into space, and not receiving the ball. The end result is you stop doing those things. Roberts, in particular, has looked a frustrated figure at times.
Whatever happens, I’ll be watching from the Kop today 😂

Nemane on the right. It's about time he got a proper run out to see what he is capable off. He's not a wing back for me so playing 4 at the back allows him to focus on attacking.

Mitchell in on the left for 2 reasons. 1, he's a good player and due a goal and 2 his height at defending set pieces will be a big help against the land of the giants.

Ok. I want him to succeed as everyone does I'm sure, I just don't see it.. I know he is public enemy no 1 on here but Eli Sam scored goals and set them up last season,but apparently not fit to be a professional footballer according to some on here. If he was given any sort of decent run then I think we see a good player. That's one of the things I'm comparing Kairo with. Has he done anything that Eli hasn't?? Way less IMHO

I have said this for a while that Roberts should swap onto the left to put in some crosses for Wooton to feed off. He is so one footed that the opponents know he always cuts inside.

I was kind of with you until Eli Sam was brought into it! For his size it’s amazing that he can’t head a ball, trap a ball, pin a defender, turn a defender, or hold a ball up. Couple this with his general lazy demeanour and lack of effort and you can see why people already favour Mitchell over him.

Eli Sam has produced some of the limpest cameo appearances I have ever seen, I really can’t see a future for him at Notts or even this level of football. He scored one worldly and a fluke cross. He’s not a target man, he’s too lazy and weak to be a wide man, he’s definitely not a number 10, he’s not a Luke Rogers type player….so what is he?

Sorry, but if it wasn’t for that one wonder goal he scored he would be pushing to get in my all time worst Notts County squad.

Well. I'm not here to bang the drum for Sam but for such a ' donkey ' he scored 7 goals last season however you want to slice it up. This is only in regard to this debate regarding Mitchell . That being said hopefully Kairo can bag one today!! P s. I see knight has made the bench over Sam!!!

Sam is sick. I’d assume he’d be on the bench again today if he was fit.
