A lot can change in four months but I see it like this. Might be massively oversimplified but there's a method to the madness:
1. We've got to finish ahead of Norwich. They've spunked their game in hand. We've got to outrun them for the rest of the race. If we can't, we're down so they can be ignored.
2. Burnley have too many games in hand so ignore because we should calculate that we can't catch them.....even though we can and should catch them.
3. If Watford win their game in hand over Leeds, they'll both be on 16pt. If they both win their games in hand over us, they'll be they'll both be on 19pts vs our 11pts.
4. So basically, the handicap is a max of 8pts plus what we do from here on in.

I see it as maintaining form of 3 wins more than Leeds and Watford. That is still doable over 19 games if we put a run together. Add permutations of them playing each other and us.
If Burnley fail to win enough of their games in hand to pass those two, they actually increase our chances of survival by being one more struggling team for us to catch within the same margin of wins.
Remember, it is a footrace between the struggling teams so forget at 40pts. Just look at relative performance.
Our safety will only be achievable on the final day with this logic because we'll never get to 40pts and thus will never be mathematically safe.
All depends on the business we do on Saturday morning because without 1 or better yet 2 strikers, we won't score goals. And without better defenders, the failure to keep clean sheets will mutliply the difficulty.
We can stay up but we need enough players coming in immediately with quality better than the others in the footrace have.
I've not lost hope but we are in such a ****ed situation.
What worries me and I've harped on about this several times is what the prem will do whilst we are not there to defend ourselves.
We wouldn't be able to challenge cos we're not in the league and we wouldn't be able to retrospectally challenge when coming up.

Even if we stay, they’ll still be ganging up on us 18 to 1, possibly with Citeh abstaining (but don’t bet your mortgage on it).
It’s already them-and-us so any of that malarkey will have to be reversed or blocked in court.

I think out of the five clubs we will be far superior following the coming transfer window so we have to keep above Norwich and better two out of the other three. And that's not withstanding any other club above having a bad run and coming down into the mix.

We are not down yet. The table is so f*cked right now though, we have the same points tally as Burnley, but they have four games in hand? Crazy.
