Your opinion is very valued Ketts and agree with it! How can Khan have any respect when he back stabs the commissioner in public! When there’s a terrorist attack - not heard Khan saying any firm words about a jihadi or asylum seeker!! I would rather vote for the raving looney party than this excuse for a human!
Him and Bruce should both just go now.....use the same thread ....😁
Baggieal, i’m not a fan of nor do I have anything against Khan.. just neutral purely down to I don’t know enough about it and because he’s not the mayor for where I live. So I cannot comment. If you live in London then fair enough. He got voted in twice now???
Anyway, i don’t remember or where this jihadi link is coming from? This is just outrageous. What I do remember is this, he met with the Jewish community during the anti semitism stuff going on and this was welcomed by the community at the time. This thing about him supporting jihadists? is total nonsense that you need to stop spreading. Okay during one attack he should have chosen better words, he was wrong. But did anyone follow up on what he said to rectify this???Also, I can only guess he’s said things to be for helping or supportive towards asylum seekers.
When you look at the 3 things mentioned above, I don’t understand why we are labelling him a nasty piece of work when most if not all is unreliable and total lies made by the right wing media?
Sajid David’s brother Bas has called out racist police at the Met - why ain’t he being slated for influencing roles in public services?? Why? It’s this RW propagandist thing your reading. They just turn that amp up now and then and we all react.
Livermore out.
Whatever anyone thinks of his performance as the Mayor of London I think it's only fair if readers explore the following article from the Full Facts website.
And by explore I don't mean stop reading at the opening header. I'd post the link but for some reason my phone isn't allowing me to copy and paste it although it seems to have no problem copying and pasting the article itself:
'Sadiq Khan’s former law firm did consult on the defence of someone convicted in relation to 9/11'
28 JUNE 2019
WHAT WAS CLAIMED
Sadiq Khan was the consultant lawyer for the captured 9/11 Al Qaeda terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui.
OUR VERDICT
Sadiq Khan did consult for the defence of Zacarias Moussaoui, although Mr Khan never represented the man in court and has never met him.
A Facebook post with over 600 shares has claimed that Mayor of London Sadiq Khan was the consultant lawyer for the “captured 9/11 Al Qaeda terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui”.
Zacarias Moussaoui is a French national who was arrested in August 2001 after arousing suspicion whilst studying at a flight school. Later, he was the only person to be convicted in the US in connection to the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Before he became an MP and then Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan was a solicitor specialising in human rights.
The Guardian reported in 2016 that Mr Khan had said he’d never represented Zacarias Moussaoui, but that his firm had consulted on Moussaoui’s defence. The mayor’s office confirmed to us that Mr Khan was consulting for the defence on that case, but did not represent Moussaoui and has never met him.
The image in the post of a man standing behind a woman comes from a 2002 news report in French recorded at the start of Moussaoui’s trial in Alexandria, Virginia. The woman being interviewed is Zacarias Moussaoui’s mother, Aicha el-Wafi.
The man standing behind her is Mr Khan, and the Mayor of London’s office confirmed this to us.
There are court documents mentioning Mr Khan—the defendant seems to have personally asked for Mr Khan to have security clearance to meet him. The response from the US government, which was prosecuting, reasoned that they should not be allowed to meet. A ruling from the judge in October 2002 denied the request. The Mayor of London’s office confirmed to us that Mr Khan never met Moussaoui.
Mr Khan could not have represented the defendant, because (as pointed out by the US government) he wasn’t licensed to practise law in that region.
Zacarias Moussaoui was sentenced in 2006, after Sadiq Khan left the law firm to campaign to be an MP in 2004'.
As for Cressida Dick I'm of the uninformed opinion she was promoted beyond her capabilities.
Good post and says it all. Human rights - defending terrorists! Someone like him is why this country is a mess!
Why not let in another 100,000 illegals and make life more comfortable for ISIS? Whilst we are at it - ban every single nativity play this coming Christmas!
Pathetic and perhaps this country should take a leaf out of Australia’s book! Putin must be laughing his socks off!!! Sanctions on the Russians - ha ha! We have no bottle
You need to understand though Al, and someone will probably correct me.. but as a lawyer (not sure if it’s a solicitor or barrister rule) but if you are asked to defend or represent a client you can’t refuse it? Not that this would matter to Khan, but if you are a human rights lawyer then it’s what you are meant to do. And a high profile case like this it’s unlikely you’d turn down.. money talks. Let’s not pretend any of us would turn down money for a job you do, because all morals go out the window. The above revelation is new to me and I’d never have known, and wouldn’t have had any interest in. But he’s a lawyer.. any other lawyer would represent (however guilt that person is). It’s the way of the world and I can’t see human rights laws changing any time soon?? Anyway think I’m starting to digress here.
It was me that termed him a defender of jihadists, having looked further into it I was mistaken, my humblest apologies. He did however say that terrorist incidents are part and parcel of living in a big city, which as someone with a legal background can hardly brush off as clumsy or ill considered.
When confronted with worsening violent crime figures he stated that he believed London is safer, was that not a perfect moment to highlight the impact of budget cuts?
Get what you are saying Regis as Cherie Blair made huge sums of money representing human rights cases. Money sadly does talk!
Personally I don’t like him or hardly any one in Government as they are all w ankers and for themselves! How can those 12,000 pounds charges for breaking Covid rules still stand when Boris has had multiple parties? Shocking and one rule for one and f uck the public!
What RW rags claimed he said;
"Terror attack are part and parcel of living in a big city"
What he actually said;
“Part and parcel of living in a great global city is you’ve got to be prepared for these things, you’ve got to be vigilant, you’ve got to support the police doing an incredibly hard job, you got to support the security services.”
Its quite easy to throw misleading statements like this one, to make the reader believe something else and provoke an emotional reaction.
Another example of why reading and believing anything in the Daily Mail or The Sun is not only not credible, but completely worthless. Their agenda is to influence the masses against any person or group that is problematic to them.
This has absolutely happened with the EU; And now its happening with the BBC. Its a shame we have such a gullible electorate in this country.
