I'm quite lucky in this regard too as although we are only 9 miles from nearest town and 24 from larger city there is very little pollution and the starfield of our night sky is brilliant. Obviously living in a rural coastal area helps. My neighbour has an app on his phone that helps identify and track various stars a bit like Google earth and with mostly clear skies like this I do get tempted to get into a bit of astronomy like him. Doubtless the night sky here is nowhere near as clear as the places you mention but still impressive to me.Quote:
