I get that… but if we do it with Warnock, would he stay and build a team that could consolidate… or will be be just expert with youth again. Whilst I think Warnock could get us up, it’s what happens then, and I don’t trust the men in the shadows…when the club shows a definite prolonged alternate course, I’ll return.

I agree with Animal though….. if he comes…. It definitely WILL be interesting.

Can you tell me when any of this actually played out ?

You are spot on, it has made me laugh when I have read that Warnock would not be a good appointment because it would be only short term , what a load of tosh , if you go right back through our promotions ask yourself how long have these successful managers stayed, Clarke went to Leeds, Wilson went to the Wendies , Ritchie did not last long , Hecky went to Leeds & Stendel soon departed , long term success doea not happen , we have had a merry go round of managers for years , when they do well they are head hunted & when they are struggling our fan base put pressure on the board to get shut & they often do just to appease the fans , so I say that appointing Warnock with a view to having a crack at a return to the championship is a positive step & lets get back & then worry about who is at the helm .

He has been a loathsome manager in his time, definitely somebody you want on your side rather than against you.
But he does what it says on the tin, he turns around teams fortunes and is very effective at how he goes about things.
Ive said many times I can't stand the bloke, and hes got the Colin nickname for a very good reason lol.
But this could be an amazing appointment for the club, it could give us genuine hopes of not only competing but maybe even challenging in the top 6.
Im all for it, IF we can get him!. 👍

This post reminds me of a post I made recently about Barnsley never having a prolonged period of success.
And because of that football supporters in the district have drifted away to other clubs such as Leeds and the Sheffield clubs.
The club - and the town - are crying out for a period of success.

Prime the pump.

You can bet your ar5e if he comes to us, Sol Bamba will be the first player of experience brought in!

The Leeds & Sheffield clubs are all big city clubs but it is somewhat ironic that in recent history none of these clubs have done anything apart from like ourselves have dropped to division three , their fans demand better because of the history & the size of the clubs but all three go through managers on a regular basis in their search for the holy grail & although Leeds are currently in the top flight it is in fact a sad indictment of yorkshire football that a county as big as ours cannot produce a really top side & where you say that our club is crying out for success so are the big city clubs as well .

My point. Short term gain. And we start again.
Warnock not the answer.
Luton Town have shown us the way,….
Funny, innit……. After they pinched and borrowed other people players……

Maybe we should have been smarter…..


Their manager said this week…. (And it’s LAUGHABLE!) ! We won’t “ Do a Barnsley”

No…. They were smarter than us….. they went for steady growth.. and they realised that their club grew slowly…….
They were in Non league How many years ago?


Just how good were they at Luton Town at
“long term planning , strategy , building for the future etc”…..
With a ground, and fan base a damn sight less than ours?


Take some getting back this “trusting” this will…..

And remember… we went up second, and we thought we were better than them…..

Luton planned, consolidated, and delivered.

Our lot held their hand out waiting for the shekels to fall into their hands…..

No….. NAPM … not until they prove it’s worth investing in.

Correct Shads. The average tenure of a Barnsley manager over the last 20 years is 14 months.

We have ed six managers in four and a heyf years of The Arseoyle's time here, not counting caretakers/ interims, ---Morais, Stendel, Struber, Ismael, Schopp and Asbaghi.
If Warnock can just clear art the heart of a pea sh1t that gorrus relegated with 30pts and replace them with players he trusts and gets them playing that will do for me. Promotion would be a bonus.
