Hit the nail right on the head there Swiss, 'styles of play change with the talent that is available', as the quality of player available to Dyche deteriorated, his style of play changed. Given that he gets the Stoke job, and he has a decent enough squad, I cannot imagine why he would change the style of play that was so successful at this level twice previously, rock solid defence, good football, plenty of goals. In those two seasons he lost just 10 out of 92 league games while being one of the top scorers in the division, why on earth would he change from that ?
If however his squad isn't up to scratch and they're in a relegation battle, the style might be a bit more 'pragmatic' until he gets the players in he wants. Although some fans were moaning, I thought he did a superb job in the season he took over at Burnley, season after we took off, can't see why it would be different at Stoke.
Seems like we might be wasting our time discussing this, Alex Neil is apparently on his way to Stoke for talks right now.
Just got back in from Norfolk so I will have my proper half penneth on this now.
Dyche is too good for the Championship, if he could keep a cash strapped, threadbare squad in the EPL for six seasons and work under a chairman who thought signing Dale Stephens was an appeasement, I'm certain he would work wonders at clubs like either Everton or Leicester.
Next EPL manager's chair to become vacant outside of Arsenal, City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea or Spurs, SD is a shoe-in. He's rested and he will be a beast, especially with a few quid in his arse pocket to play with.
I was at Stamford Bridge when we smashed the reigning EPL Champions 3-2 in the first game of a new season after being 3-0 up at half time, so PLEASE do not anybody tell me Dyche can't manage an EPL team because he can and he did and he will again.
I hope we might meet up again in next season's EPL. ;D
Bloody hell BT, I have to agree with every word, except I'm not sure he'll get a PL job. I'm off for a cup of tea with two sugars and a lie down in a darkened room now. Give me a couple of hours. ;D
I am with you on all of that BT, however, sadly there are many of our fans who will always blame SD for our demise no matter what. Let's face it, Directors etc. never get the sack in football, it is always the manager who gets the kick into touch.
Go easy on the sugar, sinkov, but enjoy your lie down. >;)
In many ways SD has been proved right. The only way to change our style of play was to completely overhaul the squad except for maybe Tarks,Collins and Cornet. That is happening now albeit on a much smaller budget that would have been necessary for an overhaul in the PL.SD knew that and also knew the only way to try and keep the team we had at the time in the PL was in the style we were playing. The strikers he had available are not proving good enough even for the Championship. His job was to keep us in the PL and he could see that if we started playing expansive football with the quality of players we had available we would probably have been relegated by Christmas.
I maintain the view that if SD has a club that will back him he could be up there with the best.I always thought Newcastle or Everton would be ideal for him.He should hold out for a job with a cash rich club in the PL.I actually think he would sort the problems out at Man U. far quicker than the star managers they have tried and failed with.
