Where is the money going to come from to renationalise all these companies you have quoted.
The shareholders have to be repaid at the mid market price of listed share price of each company.
The U.K. Government does not have a ‘magic money tree’ to make all these payments.
I don't think you are right. Governments of both the left and the right have allowed franchise holders to pay dividends. I think that it might be possible to provide subsidised rail and bus travel but I don't think that our battle ground approach to employee/employer relationships helps. Companies far bigger and more complex seem to be able to run without having the same confrontational industrial relations.
Think the Scottish Government runs rail franchise(s). Don't think they pay any dividend to themselves but I am not sure so happy to be corrected.
The Scottish Government took over the running of Scotrail thinking that they would make a better job of running it that the Dutch company Abelio who they continually complained about.
The Scottish Government ministers have since discovered that it is not as easy to run Scotrail as they previously thought especially as they cannot blame anyone else for Scotrail problems.
The buck stops with them!
