Unless!!!! - some other Hollywood stars think “ I’ll have some of that!!!!”

Yeah.
I've only been following notts a few years but this is by far the best it's ever been. An absolutely incredible season... SO FAR!
We should make it through the playoffs, in which case we can continue to be villains in the Wrexham story next season :P
Even if we don't make it through the playoffs, if we manage to assemble a team that's even 85% as good as the current one, next season, we'll be very likely to win the league. No reason we can't do 105% though...
Considering it’s been on the cards for nigh on 2 weeks I’m still gutted this morning. This club, the coaches, and the players hugely deserve promotion and it’s not right it’s still in the balance. I’ve been to more matches this season than for about 30 years and it’s been great watching the fantastic football and spending time with my son who I’ve managed to condemn into being a bigger Notts fan than I ever was!
All out for the playoffs, we know we’re by far the best team but we also know it would be absolutely typical Notts to get 109 points and not get promoted. Fingers crossed…
Fair play to Wrexham, I was totally gutted yesterday but as a realist I have to give them the credit that they deserve, last night against Boredom they never panicked even going behind so early... and of course they have Mullins who is a complete beast...some very nice words from the owners at the end towards Notts so good luck to them and let's just do what we deserve and go up along with them.
I'm very proud that this Notts County team has taken Wrexham virtually to the wire whilst playing a brand of football way superior to anything I've seen at the Lane in my time watching the Pies. We deserve promotion and I hope we still get it, but whatever happens, we've seen proof this season that the operating model being employed by the owners is improving this club. I hope the promotion we deserve through the play-offs, but even if we didn't, we should continue believing in our approach. Our recruitment has improved beyond recognition.
This. We as fans now need to do our part and stay positive (or as close as possible some of our lot can manage) and support the team like never before over the coming weeks. First, let's give the team the acclaim they deserve next Saturday for a record-breaking season, then pack the Lane for the semifinal and create the best atmosphere possible.
They are good points that your friend mentions and of course who does want to see their team winning each week and scoring lots of goals and breaking records. There is no denying that we've had a lot of exposure and free PR certainly this season due to our rivalry with Wrexham.
For me however our football league status and the tag of the oldest football league club in the world was a big part of our identity for our entire history until 2019. That is where this club belongs and deserves to be. Over the past four years the club has been rebuilt and I've always said the first four or five years is like an apprenticeship for our owners. We've done our time and there is no better time than in the four years we've been at this level for us to get out of it. We've got a far superior quality team than at any other period we've been here.
Having said that it would not be the end of the world for me if we did not get promoted this season. Like Wrexham last season we would have everything in place to win the title next season. Even if we lose Rodrigues and Langstaff if we can hold onto Luke Williams and continue to build on this season we would have every chance. We've got the chance now though and cannot lose sight of that.
I also think what is has done has brought to the minds of the wider footballing world the injustice of only one automatic promotion place at this level. With 22 professional clubs at this level now is the time for 3 up and 3 down like other leagues.
In terms of being in the obscurity of League Two I think the side we have now would be highly competitive in league two. I wouldn't expect this team to be mid table or lower. Instead I would expect them to be in the top 5. Likewise I'd expect Wrexham with the team they have right now to be challenging at the top of league two and will be expecting them to be favorite's for the league two title next season. Both Notts and Wrexham's teams are almost League One in quality. We only have to look at where Stockport are in League Two. They are 4th and are in with a shout of double promotion.
It's happened so many times that getting promoted out of this league can be a catalyst for clubs and can propel them to League One if they keep their squads together and continue the momentum. Other clubs have gone further like Luton who are 3rd in the championship and have continued to build since getting promoted out of this league 9 years ago. Under our current owners over the next decade what's to say we couldn't do the same?
There’s no reason we shouldn’t go into the playoffs with a sense of optimism that I didn’t share last year, I had zero confidence in us beating Grimsby.
All the teams in the playoffs this year except Woking have taken some points off us in some fashion so it certainly won’t be easy but the way we can dominate teams now should give us a great chance.
If we don’t go up we should still have a million quid coming in for Macca which should easily cover adequate replacements for Ruben, Macca and and strengthen the defence and goalkeeper positions. On the flip side, if we do go up then we may be able to keep Macca and Ruben, but strengthening the defence and goal keeper would be a top priority.
