There will come a point though Des where all the top clubs are owned by the mega rich and the playing field will even out to some degree.
We are a top club (hard to believe but we are) and at some point we will get a truly wealthy owner.
You can’t buy heritage and you can’t buy a supporter base.
Look at Forest Green, great aspirations and a solid ethos by their wealthy owner Dale Vince but geographically and heritage wise they are totally compromised.
Salford, even with the “Class of 92” and a rich Chinese owner can’t get more than 3000-4000 gates.
We are one of the big 20 clubs and I include Sheffield Wednesday and the likes of Derby County in this.
Bournemouth and Brentford are having their days in the sun and we’ll deserved days at that…..but they’ll never be West Brom and one day our chance at being that Leicester City type side of 5 years ago will come along.
