It’s RETENTION. Simple as that.
It's yet another departure through the revolving door. Apparently the board offered Duff an improved deal in a bid to keep him here. Duff said it wasn't about money.
Swansea is 104 miles from Cheltenham, a 2hr drive.
Barnsley is 144 miles from Cheltenham and a 3hr drive. He's edging closer to home ;D
Personally I wish to thank him for last season and the job he did. I wish him good luck at Swansea.
The guy is coming in for some stick on social media which I expected but we had all this with Danny Wilson when he left. Emotions are obviously running high. Not me. I'm just like 'here we go again' This club is as predictable as winter.

If they appoint someone who knows the league then I’m hoping it’s all gonna run a bit smoother this time, on the other hand if another Assbhaji, Scloppy or Morais Comes in, I’m gonna be a neutral visiting grounds I haven’t been to before.
I remain of the opinion that Michael Duff is a good coach. He took the band of free transfers and loans dealt to him by Parekh and got a system going that won enough matches in the Third Division ( W26 D8 L12) to see us to the Play Off Final
I must be going deluded in my old age in that I actually believed the "I'm no fly by night, not just here for five minutes, I'm here with a project to see through" etc stuff. I was convinced that here was a plain speaking, decent bloke and we dropped on lucky that he applied for the job here.
I have now given my head a shake and I am back to the reality of Barnsley FC. The key figure at the club goes. We now wait to see which key players go.

And I think when James and Neerav have longer working together and recruitment shifts up the gears then that problem will get worse not better.
In saying that - when you think about it it’s a great problem to have !!!
Only way of solving it is slapping higher prices on players and trying to find a way through head coach contracts which only allows them to leave after considerable compensation is paid.
I think Swansea would have backed off if there was a much higher release clause.
