This is becoming a mantra on here but weighing up the evidence I think it's a big exaggeration, particularly for those who care about the rivalry still (me included) as a way of comforting ourselves when the gap is as large as it's ever been apart from last season.

There's ALWAYS been some fans who will cross the river for whatever reason. Anecdotally there will be the odd few who come over and claim it's because of the ticket prices or VAR, but the fact is gates are increasing wildly across football and we've just got promoted via Wembley.

We aren't silly numbers above where we were last time we were in tier 4 under Hardy or when we've had notable increases previously (Munto, Nolan initially), nobody was claiming then that it had anything to do with Fword.

Obviously their capacity could come into play as a major factor long term, but if gates across football continue to increase then they will start selling out on a regular basis whatever division they are in, so we won't need them to stay up if that is or becomes a significant benefit to us. It's far important that they don't expand/increase capacity and that will be more likely to happen if they stay up.

Yeah, Forest expanding the City Ground wouldn't be great for us. I can see it happening though. They look set to stay up this season what with Luton and a couple of other teams looking dead in the water already.

Slack, you need to be aware that your expressed views here are way out of touch and there is a conundrum at the core of them. That conundrum is that you clearly despise Premier League football (which I understand) and yet that is the ultimate goal of the club you support. Or is it that your ultimate goal for Notts is the Championship?
Not only are your stats for possession, shots on goal etc, largely inaccurate, since when did % of possession determine anything? Brighton are a case in point. Ridiculously effective yet rarely winning on possession.
I am of the conviction that Notts can only benefit from Forest's residence in the Prem, through player loans, increased interest in football as a form of entertainment in Nottingham and the promise of an exciting rivalry being restored.

I was obviously being a bit facetious with the stats I mentioned. My point was that at a quick glance at the stats, it seems Forest manage to pull off results against the run of play.

I do despise Premier League football, yes. I haven't watched a top-level match or MotD for many years. I don't have an 'ultimate goal' for Notts County other than to support them until the day I die. I hope we are successful and manage to realise our potential, but if success meant that I can no longer get a ticket and feel totally detached from the club, then I'd rather not have it.

Expanding the City Ground will only mean higher matchday prices. Those who are fortunate to afford those costs will be from the business sector, buying up seats for potential clients.
Hopefully those who like to watch live games, but are unable to pay the extortionate prices may come over to us instead..

This seems to be the latest story on the expansion plans, which would increase the capacity to 35,000 at the cost of £94 million - but that would no doubt increase the longer things take to build:

Of course, it’s about much more than building a new stand for the owner. Key for him, I assume, is the building of 170 flats in a 14-story block opposite the old Bridgford House on Pavilion Road. But they can’t do anything until after they build a new site for the rowing club.

I’m not sure there’s that much correlation between attendances. I’m certainly not buying our current increases are due to their fans not being able to get tickets.
Our increase I believe is due to last season, we had massive media interest and not least because of focus on Wrexham. Then we have had 2 fantastic/dramatic games in the play offs where clearly people that don’t usually come came, was it 23k we took to Wembley? The pricing is great for young people too and on top of it we are winning and playing great football, when you think about it logically it’s not really a surprise the attendances are increasing.
The key for me is get young people in, sounds cheesy but they are the future, we all know once your hooked on your team, that’s it for life.

Yeovil and QPR

I suspect if they don't start building that new Main Stand soon they'll probably end up having to reduce capacity as it's a very old stand.

I didn't watch the game, but from what l believe they got some pretty horrendous decisions go against them when they played Man Utd, so l guess these things even themselves out.
