Stewards are contractors aren't they? And as such will be rostered as part of their working day. 2 hours prior seems about right considering they have to be briefed, allocated work areas and probably some sort of ground safety clearance before the ground opens.

Going back to my original point of getting rid of mid week games, this is highly unlikely to happen. It would require a huge reduction of games which would impact club revenue. So despite the fact that a few fans can’t make games, isn’t going to impact that.
As for the VAR discussion, they may as well get rid of the human and get AI covering the game. If the proposals do get adopted the refs will refer everything! Some refs are currently scared crapless to make a decision as it is.
Sure I read somewhere ages ago that attendance for most Prem clubs is nothing short of an inconvenience and has little impact on revenue.Quote:

This 100% It does my head in how late they are. It's not just the finish time, you can't just switch off and go to sleep, the adrenaline is still pumping from most games at full time. Also work wise we have more to do thesedays compared to say 20 years ago, it's do more with less, I do two people's jobs cause the company wanted to save a wage and I need to get to bed by half nine really. And then kids might not be allowed up to watch their team.Quote:

EFL Regulation 28:
Kick-Off Times
The Home Club shall fix the time of kick-off:
between 11.30am and 3.15pm for Saturday matches;
between 7.00pm and 8.05pm for midweek matches; and
between 11.30am and 8.05pm for Bank Holiday matches.
Once the kick-off time has been fixed, any amendment or variation thereto can be made only by agreement with the Away Club and with the approval of The League.
