Who would your next manager be

Realistically, my choice would be Jim O'Brien until the end of the season. He is already here so we are already paying him.

In his only game he was within a whisker of geting a 5-4 win. Obviously the defending was shocking but we showed some spirit at least, which is what the team lack now. He is actually better qualified as a coach than Maynard and the players wouldn't dare show him a lack of respect. And he truly is loyal to the club and has a tattoo to prove it.

Not ideal, but why would you start from where we are now? The wounds are self-inflicted. Montague has marginalised the head coach role to the point where he thinks anyone can do the job, whilst he pulls the strings as the Fantasy Football manager who picks the players.

How much decision making does Montague actually have or are his strings being pulled by the Bro's?

I think we missed a trick by not getting Warnock (assuming he really would have come) failing that Brian Barry Mujrphy was probably the best option or Mark Warburton.

Montague would not have overruled the bros in making the final decision to appoint Maynard.
It's possible they left it to him, but I very much doubt it seeing that they are still interested enough to attend games (they were here for Crewe at least).
Maybe he convinced them when they were not sure or more plausibly, they asked him to come up with the list of candidates based on budget restrictions and 13th in the NL was as good as he could conjure, but as he wasn't CEO when LW was appointed I'd presume they still trusted their own judgement.
Unless we're told otherwise I'd presume Maynard is the owners choice.

Surely Montague has as much say as the brothers, being a main board director (there are only 3) since 2019. I know it's their money but he still has a lot of say. Joe Palmer is CEO but we don't hear much from him.

He'd be outvoted unless he has an equal share or they count themselves as one voice. I wasn't really aware of him at all until this season, nobody was giving him any credit when it was going well, it was all down to the bros. suddenly they have nothing to do with it and it's all on Montague.

I get the impression fans aren't yet ready to criticize the owners, so if they aren't blaming the manager then it has to be the current equivalent of Storrie, Rodwell, Branston or Fletcher - Names that rarely come up now as history puts the blame squarely at Scardino, Trew and Hardy's door, as it will do with the brothers if this also ends in tears.

Well yes, it is easier to criticise Monatgue, I'll give you that. It seems ungrateful to criticise the brothers. But he has been involved from day one as a director and he is lead analyst at Football Radar, I think directly reporting to Chris, who is CEO of FR. It's a different set up from the others you mention as they were old time owner bosses who involved themselves in everything but the brothers seem to be more facilitators. Maybe I'm wrong and the appearance of that obscure Danish manager in the betting odds could be down to them.

Both Trew and Hardy were perceived to have steadied the ship until we realised they were steering it straight into the eye of a storm and rolled it over. We had threads here discussing the potential for Hardy staying on as chairman or day to day managing director in the Championship if he fulfilled his plans to sell up once he got us there.
I've no idea what the financial situation is now, a few here have tried to look into it and have raised concerns, so who knows how well it's really being run, that's probably something we only get to find out in the 12 months before they move on - A Dunnet-Pavis style handover (which wasn't without its' issues) or the complete sh** shows we've experienced more recently.

The thing is, when you vent your spleen at the owner and they, say, call you a moron (in fairness there were two of us) on a messageboard then it doesn't really encourage your support of the club under their regime. Our curent owners seem above that type of engagement, to be fair. And I prefer them to Trew and Hardy, who wouldn't. It's easier for us all to put the blame on their oppo, be it Rodwell, who did get plent of stick, or now Montague.

I am now slightly uncertain of owners decision making but let's see how they move on from here. Are financial restrictions behind the lack of defenders or poor analysis by Football Radar? Who knows, but we did just splurge plenty of cash on Jotta.
