Lets hope we can arrange some games against tougher opposition.

I remember us winning a preseason game 14-0 against Rolls Royce in the relegation season.
Some in here were talking about us getting automatic promotion as was hardy of course……
Pre season generally means nothing.
The problem we’ll face this summer is not being able to play at the Lane while the pitch is being improved. No Premiership/Championship side will want to play us at home unless it’s a behind-closed-doors game at their training ground - like at Leicester a few years ago. We’ve played away against Cambridge and Shrewsbury in recent years, so hopefully we’ll get at least one League 1 side in one of the free Saturday slots (July 20, Aug 3).
Pre-season can tell you stuff, especially if you’re playing decent teams. Last season’s 5-1 defeat to Stoke should have been a huge warning sign about our porous defence, but that was ignored. Ditto the Nolan pre-season where we played Leicester and Derby at home, got thumped by both and went on to have the worst season in our history.
What were the details of the defeat against Grimsby when RT said he'd buy a new defence if he had to?
Oh, found it: 25 Jul 2015, loss 3-0 (presume it was by the seaside), Moniz manager, Ray Trew "Keep the faith...i will make sure this defence is sorted out even if it means bringing in a whole new back 4 " and we're still waiting.
