Our players have been on staggered contracts in regards to which division we’re in since we got promoted under Peace.

The problem for me is that we’ve given journeymen like Swift, Bartley and Wallace huge contracts based on the fact we got them on frees.

I’m honestly not overly bothered if we get relegated, I’m sort of resigned to it.

People who are sad enough to both read and remember my posts will know that I have stated for the last few years that I would rather watch a team of Albion home grown youngsters playing in League One or Two under a new and engaged owner…..for me, this is where we are headed.

Luton dropped out of the League and made their way back to the Prem, we might have to do similar.

We reaping what we have sewn, we failed to invest in proper strikers after Odemwingie and we never replaced James Morrison when we needed an attacking midfielder.

The failure to spend on decent strikers cost us our place at the top table, £30m to £50m spending on those positions 5 to 6 years ago has proved to have cost us an Lai a huge amount more.

As a club, this is all of our own fault.

I’m pleased that some are putting a positive outlook on matters but to my mind I’ll be very surprised if we are mid-table at best. Really hope that I’m wrong.

Grant is on £20k a week and we have still got 1 or 2 more payments to Huddesfield, his value is less than we owe them .
He has 2 years left on his contract .
Grady's contract is up next year, on simalar wages to Grant . We also paid for him on instalments so last payment is due in a few weeks .

We’d be better off letting Grant leave for nothing and agreeing to pay half of his wages or letting go out on loan and paying more than half of his wage.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Fellows leave in the next month, he’s our only real asset of value.

The problem here is though, he’s still a low earner so unless you can get a high fee for him the better financial bet is to offload cr ap like Grant to save the £1m in wages.

As fans we’ve collectively moaned about recruitment for years and we’ve been proved right.

Fans can moan all they like about JP but they need to acknowledge that he ran a superb ship.

1/ No real debt

2/ Ashworth put in charge of recruitment

3/ Wages held in check and paired down to sustainable levels if we got relegated.

4/ Sacking managers at about the right time.

The club was never under threat with him running it. Sure, we can complain about him selling to Lai but we need to get real about this, Lai stumped up £200m AND according to the sources most people can find he was worth billions.

We just need to hope Patel is astute.

Up to now he has been, without the recent outgoings we would be facing a 12 point deduction this season I believe.
