Shout louder than the rest and tell the proletariat what they want to hear and you’ll probably win the most votes. People really are like sheep but we’re all at fault in that respect, at least to some degree. Propaganda works. In my opinion, the way to vote in elections, whether a general or local, is to take a look around you, what needs to be done, then see which of the candidates in your area most closely fit the bill. If everyone did that, I’m sure we would have better government; alas……!
Last week we had local elections, the Conservative won, yet just a few months ago the Tory was booted out after a Labour win. Nobody I know around here has heard even the faintest peep out of the Labour woman who became our MP (btw i have nothing against female MPs). The one candidate in our local election who I know has done a huge amount of good work locally as a councillor only came second; a big loss to our community, in my opinion. He stood for the Green Party. In the coming months we will be seeing comments on ‘social media’ about all the things that need to be done around here, yet the same people are being voted in who have created the very issues that folk are moaning about!
