I couldn't find one for Leicester baggie Ist match
I started going to matches around the early 70?s and remember standing in the Rainbow stand near to the Woodman scoreboard. The big hill to climb and the throstle club at the bottom. Unbelievable now where the club shop is to think all the back of that was a huge slope with the car park at the bottom.
The first away game I can remember was Orient away in April 76 when we drew 0-0 and that?s where Laurie joined us - that season. Loved watching Laurie and Willie and did a lot of away games including the memorable 5-3 at Man U.
The good old days. Remember years ago everyone used to meet in the Blue Gates in Smethwick before the games and then it turned into the - Club House.
I assume that you are talking about the programme. It is OK as I have got a copy. I have been an avid Albion programme collector since being a young lad. I am only nine programmes short of all Albion?s competitive programmes, home and away, since the 1953/54 season. Real anorak!
Looks like we're all "of a certain age" :)
I've posted this before, but...
5th March 1960 - drew 1-1 against Bolton. The young Bobby Robson had stayed overnight at our house (as he often did on the nights before a game so my dad could keep him away from temptations) and it was his idea that I was old enough to start going to matches.
Would have been 73/74 used to sit in the old Halfords with my dad, grandad and his brothers, they all had season tickets but for reasons of age etc I used to get to go pretty often, good times.
1963-64. I am relatively sure it was against Sheff Utd, they were certainly playing in red and white stripes. The score was either 0-0 or we lost 1-0, not sure. But I do remember I was bored to death after 30 minutes sitting on the white wall at the front of the Brummie Road. Bored, but for some reason I went to the next game and so on and eventually the next game was all that mattered to me. My school work definitely suffered because of the Albion.
I have never been to a home game.
I think 2012 vs Blackburn, 3-0.
Mind you, I was the lucky charm for a period, first 5 games at the Shrine:
Blackburn 3-0
Southampton 2-0
Palace 2-0
Spurs 3-3
Palace 2-2
Forgive me if you’ve previously answered this DB buddy…what was your connection/draw to WBA ?
In my case, I was born in Yorkshire (Harrogate) and family moved to Midlands in 1954. I remember going to my new school that year and being asked which Football Club I supported. I said I didn’t have one and the lad asking the question said you should support WBA they are a great side. And so it began….
The clue maybe in the year !
