Negative Again

I can't make my mind up whether Parker is deliberately implementing conservative and risk-averse football, or that his plan for attacking football is just not working.

Sometimes I can almost see a plan - attract the press, beat it and then try to attack. That is common nowadays. But our attack phase is so slow and lacking bravery that we take a backwards pass and kill it off. Parker keeps saying it's clear where we need to improve, but it isn't really improving.

I still maintain my view that there is enough attacking talent in this squad to produce much better football than we are currently seeing.

IF we get promoted to the PL then under Parker it will probably be something like the following:-

For all the folk that say don't worry we are near the top of the league
Last time around we had a far better squad of players and smashed the championship
We got absolutely battered in the premier.
Sure hats off to Park for grinding out point to get up the league
How many of this squad are Premiership quality, even our better players where dropped and shown to fall short in the premiership last time ie Roberts, Cullen.
So are spending 200/300mil or just being the wiping boys again..
Are we a better team this time?

If we were sitting below 5th now I would be creating like the rest of you, but we aren't.

I want us continue exactly the way we are a have a strong defencive unit and nick the odd goal, because it's what we are good.

To change our style of play now would be just plain daft, when we are 3rd in the league and 3pts off the top

My advice to you lot is act like fans and get behind the lads, instead of acting like spoilt brats who keep throwing their toys out of the pram. I was like you lot last season, but had every reason be. I could see that Kompany was destroying our football club

Your a complex character ballcock - hated VK who in the championship played the exciting brand of football that blew teams away - scored goals for fun and never gave up - tried to do the same in the premier and hi stubbornness cost us eventually.

Parker plays the most dire drab football I?ve seen ! He can dress it up how he likes on tv work in progress - room for improvement etc etc.

I?m just surprised that we?ve switched from one extreme to another with the glitch of premier league in the middle ( if VK was in charge yesterday we?d have tried to win the game ) from my perspective we did the exact opposite - bigger plan or not it?s dire I?m afraid at the moment - I took nothing away from the game and that is nothing literally - I think we?ve forgotten how good it can be.

Ironically it makes me laugh practicing shooting in before the game with absolutely no intention of doing once the whistle blows.

Incidentally I?m always behind the team I?d just like to get excited every now and again at the prospect of a goal or even shots at it.

I think your in the minority with your Parker patience tbh but I see your view why push it when we?re third now - My thing is if we?d applied ourselves and actually gone at teams with a view to scoring we could easily have had another 10/12 points and be cruising back to the big time as it is we?ll be lucky to make the top two anyway.

I've not heard many people with that view. Each to their own I suppose. I feel like we have less goal threat now than under Dyche. And supposedly the idea was to move forward from that.

Just to repeat my other post:

A little moan after yet another goal less draw at Turf Moor.

It is hard to argue that Burnley defensively are rock solid, Maxime Esteve and CJ Egan Riley are a fabulous centre-back pairing and James Trafford constantly reminds us just how good he will eventually be.

Scott Parker has built a team that is defensively nothing short of extraordinary providing the Clarets with a platform to build towards an immediate return to the EPL at the first time of asking.

Of growing concern however is the continuing lack of points not being harvested at Turf Moor. My biggest niggle is Parker’s constant application of playing square pegs in round holes; Zion Flemming for all of his effort and application is not a centre-forward in the traditional sense.

Lyle Foster is not and never will be a left winger; we have a seemingly out of favour natural winger in Luca Koleosho who is not even getting a game.

Another point is that the Clarets record at attacking set pieces is beyond woeful, surely coaching sessions at Barnfield could inspire us to nick the odd decisive goal at set plays? It’s a distant memory when John O’Shea (now at Ipswich Town) scored from a corner with a header at Luton Town in the 4-1 thrashing of the Hatters.

Parker also has the particularly rueful habit of refusing to use the bench. Lamentably late and ineffective substitutions are Parker’s norm. Eight goalless home draws are simply not the stuff of automatic promotion.

So come on Scotty Parker sort out scoring goals from set pieces and give the substitutes the chance to impact on a game.
And not inserting square pegs in to round holes might be a good way to start.

I would have had no problem with a 0-0 draw last night IF it was only against the best team in the league and/or we were 3 points above them.But we do this on a regular basis against teams in the bottom half of the league.I have been reading comments about last nights game and they are brutal:-

"I can appreciate and respect a strong defense but my god Burnley are boring. No attacking intent whatsoever and Leeds were just as poor. If going to Turf Moor is a highlight of living in Burnley it does not say much for the town.?

"As a Burnley fan I want my money back - I'd rather lose 3-0 than watch us play so negatively.... that was a terrible game to watch?

"I've supported Burnley since 1958 and for the first time I have come away from the game ashamed of the Clarets. Abysmal tactics with a goalless draw the only ambition.
The defence is of course praiseworthy. But that is only one third of a team. Parkerball makes Dycheball look dazzling.?

"OMG The championship goes from bad to worse Scott Parker hang your head in shame what an utter disgrace. I?ve no time for Leeds but Burnley aren?t making any friends either. Southampton may well set a new record low points total in the Premiership but should Burnley go up they?ll beat that a not score a single goal. How can you pay good money to go watch that shameful rubbish.?
