OT Trump's Tariffs

Good points TT, not too far wrong with any of it IMO to be fair. I would also say for all his flaws both real and perceived, he is one resilient guy. How many would bounce back to a second term as President after all the turmoil he had the last 4 years? He has saw off everyone in his way. I fear his weakness could be inconsistency and making kneejerk decisions. I also think he has little respect for women but hey, so do a lot of men these days.

What I respect is he is making changes quickly, his determination and yes, he has a vision. That counts for a lot in my book. Biden was a joke with no vision barring stringing a sentence together while Harris was in cloud cuckoo land.

Lets see if his vision tor Americca is successful or just a relic,a dream based on a distorted memory he had from the past.

As for him being racist? Well. right from his refusal to allow black people to rent his properties in the early 70s and continuing with his constant slurs against , amongst others, Mexicans, immigrants and black people, the fact that the KKK and the Proud Boys support him-because they recognise one of their own-and he refuses to disavow them.

In terms of Russiahe's basically parroting the Kremlin line and his treatment of Zelensky was shameful, as was withdrawing support and intelligence. As for Israel, their treatment of the Palestinians has been a series of war crimes for decades (on a related note, Hamas are utter scum who should be destroyed but the Israelis use Hamas as an excuse for their, frankly, genocidal actions-quite the irony given what the Jews experienced in the war).

Trump has empowered and emboldened racists and bigots the world over. Last week, one of his senators openly quoted Joseph Goebels to support what he was saying.

But, that's just my take. I know I'm not going to fall out with folk on here about our differing political opinions buit I'm probably going to leave my input on this here as none of us are going to changes each other's minds.

usa is run by big business moguls who now have one of their own at the top - canada and greenland ? wanted for their resources Help Ukraine? for their resourses . consider there is a 10% tarriff on our goods but where will that tariff go? "we helped you in ww2" really - well it was until the 90s to pay off that help . I have a few american friends and their dislike of donald is great

Absolutely. I feel the same. Its good to hear other views, even if its only to reflect on/review your own ones. The secret is to be civil, non personal and objective.

Just as an aside, as a Celt who can trace his family back to circa 1200, Im thinking of starting a campaign to get Britain back for me and my fellow celts. I mean if the Palestinians can ask to free a country which has never existed, then surely I have a good chance as Alba certainly did? What do you reckon are my chances??

The Palestinians want a free country, which you say didn't exist, yet the Brits had a Police Force after WW2 named the Palestine Police. Israel also wants a free country which previously didn't exist.

If we go back in time, that whole area was lived in by the Semitic twelve tribes of Abraham of which the Jews were one tribe and the peoples who were later to be called Palestinian were another tribe. All of the tribes were wanderers.

The Philistines who the Muslims in Gaza are mainly descended from were the original inhabitants of Gaza and not the Israelites.

I would suggest we stop this before it descends into a highly politicised rant between two sides that won't agree with the other.

Have to correct you there Bill. Gaza is the land of Canaan a Semitic speaking people from 2nd Cent BC. Archeology, (synagogues) scripture (Samson story etc) and historical record - which the Romans did well say so. Philistines were the "sea people" - Greeks who were the original invaders of Isreal and settled in various cities in existence today like Ashkelon/Ashdod etc . The name Palestine/Palestina was used by the Emporer Hadrian as a name for Isreal to piiss the Jews off as they wouldn't bend the knee to the pagan gods. Came from the word "Philistines".

No such place as the West Bank either. Its Judea and Sumaria.
