French Ligue 1 club Marseille hotting up chasing Soloman reports Canal Sports plus.
So Solomon remains contracted at Spurs until the summer of 2028, meaning to get him on a permanent basis not gonna be cheap.
However, there is a way in which Leeds could potentially negotiate a cheaper deal than Spurs asking price which relates to last summers Archie Gray move.
Gray moved for 40m pounds last July & the necessary steps for that transfer are understood to have taken place prior to June 30 which permited Leeds to include the sale in their 2023/24 accounts.
So we included Grays sale into our most recently available financial report, allowing to avoid any potential Profitability & Sustainability sanctions for the relevant 3 year accounting period ending June 30, 2024.
Like the majority of football transfers such fees are rarely paid up front meaning Leeds will still be owed a portion of the 40m pounds of Grays sale which is likely to be spread over the length of Grays Spurs contract which runs to 2030.
According to Leeds 2023/24 accounts we are owed 69m pounds in future transfer instalments by other clubs with Spurs understood to be one of them.
Of course we must remember the player has had a persistent meniscus problems & surgery on his right knee which was still troubling him while with us. The original injury in Sept 2023 kept him sidelined for 11 months 'tho he played 39 games for us while his knee was carefully managed & banged in 10 goals.
It was a serious injury he suffered & while surgery can address the tear it also comes with potential long term performance implications, especially for players returning to the highest level of competition.
Football players with meniscus injuries may experience a limited range of motion in the affected knee & they may have difficulty fully bending or straightening the knee joint. I noted Solomon recently stated that it was only since March 2025 that he was nearly pain free when striking the ball & nearly had full rotation of his knee again.
Dunno the amount of meniscus removed but you can develop arthritis changes years later if the injury is not managed, I am told.
So full credit to our Medical treatment plans which were tailored to Solomons needs during the time of year on the seasons pitches. 👍
S over to you Mr Solomon - Do you wanna stay or do you wanna go ?
Solomon expected to be Leeds first signing..after requesting a move to ER, great stuff if true
Back in the day (70s), cartilage injuries as they were called, spelled the end of football careers. At least the end of one's best days.
The great Dennis Law sustained one and he was never the same again. Coincidentally, Gruev sustained one this season, got surgery and came back, all in a matter of months. Amazing how far modern surgery has come. I think Solomon genuinely wants to stay. I think it may come down to price. This is slightly reminiscent of the Ben White situation, although we never got clarification as to how committed he was to playing for Leeds. Here, Solomon has publicly stated that he loves the club. So might be different.
