Yes, yesterday was a damp squib, but it was game 38 of a season? over the course of the season we qualified? not Man Utd?s win (though I am loving that), not the complaints from Villa (some fair, but they were getting battered all game, before the sending off and before the ref whistle), but over the season? we?ve had good and bad decisions, bit?s of luck, Villa have, even Man Utd have? it?s over the course of the entire season, not the final day.
Rafa said it, this was a squad who had little to nothing left? I was one of the folks yesterday saying we should want it more, 100% effort and commitment? just maybe after a long season with little depth to rotate with, this is all they had left.
Howe had called it out in his interview, made it very plain we have not been able to bring in any major signings in 3 transfer windows and we need to change that, and change it quick.
The way the finances work it looks like we have a large chunk free?d up to spend, and with CL football we have a good chunk of additional income at least next season.
Mitchell needs to earn his wages in the summer, not a dig at him but this is a pivotal moment, we need to spend and we need to get it right.
For the key positions we need, we need to find players that tick all Eddie?s boxes, and at the top of that I assume it is the right character/personality to fit into the squad of players we have, the ability to challenge the best we have at a minimum, or even improve on them.
Midfield needs real depth? we cannot go another season with such a massive gap between the first 3 (which are as good as a unit as any midfield in the Prem) and Longstaff/Willock.
Miley is all potential still, needs games.
We?ve discussed to death RW, ST, RCB, but for me having depth in that midfield is as critical as anything else.

How many times have we seen pathetic weak free kicks given against us to Goal keepers who have clearly made a mistake and lost control?
The Bruno goal that was ruled out a few weeks ago. I can't remember against who but that's just one of probably 12 - 14 examples, we've had against us just this season.
