Russian colonel who is responsible for the mobilisation of troops has been placed under house arrest for allegedly demanding a washing machine as a bribe from an officer, the Russian daily newspaper Kommersant reports.
The colonel was detained by the authorities after he demanded the household appliance from a Moscow military commissar, whose mobilisation efforts for soldiers were reportedly going poorly at his conscription office.

European Union member states have agreed to put a $60 a barrel price cap on Russian oil after Poland, which was holding out, gave the green light to the deal.
In an effort to reduce the Kremlin’s income from fossil fuels, the EU has agreed to limit the amount that can be paid for seaborne oil to diminish Moscow’s ability to finance its war in Ukraine.
Russian oil is currently selling in the far eastern region for around $55 so not a great discount (none).
