A year ago at the end of the 23/24 season there were 19 players over the age of 25 in the squad. 8 of those were over 30. The over 30's that have moved on in the past year are JOB, Rawlinson, Bostock, Brindley, Slocombe, Chicksen, Miller, Didzy, Gosling. Then those aged between 26-30 Morais, Cameron, Austin, Colkett, Adebayo-Rowling, Randall, Baldwin, Langstaff (Sold) Nemane (Sold) Crowley (Sold)
As it stands there are 10 players over the age of 25 in the squad. 3 of those aged 30 or over Palmer, McDonald and Edwards. The other seven are Cundy, Bass, JJ, Gordon, Platt, Tsaroulla and Jatta.
So for balance the squad probably needs a couple +30 year olds to provide the experience and mentorship needed for the under 25's, but more importantly they need to be leaders and captain material. Norborn fits that bill as he was club captain of Peterborough after they reached the league one playoffs in 21/22 and has also been captain of Blackpool. So if he does sign perhaps he can be the Bishop/Ravenhill spoiler and provide some aggression and bite in midfield.
Don?t mind a few 30+ players with plenty of EFL experience in the squad. The leadership of Norburn, youthful unknown of Iorpenda and a returning Robertson would be a good Abbott replacement. A no10 that can somehow follow the footsteps of Ruben, Crowley, Didzy is the next challenge unless the new lad from Carlisle (whose name escapes me) is that man.
Think Bradbury has now signed for Harrogate tho.
