Some general musings;
People who are speaking about local elections/planning etc - The stadium will be within City Council boundaries, but Westhill itself is Aberdeenshire Council. Do the City Council really need to care about objections from Westhillers?
The traffic in that area must be an absolute nightmare twice a day, every day. A Dons-game-worth of traffic every fortnight will surely be less disruptive. Particularly as the bypass will be open by then, and the routes into the town won't already be congested with all the other weekday traffic.
People saying Westhill is the middle of nowhere need to widen their horizons somewhat - the proposed site is 5.5 miles by road from the Music Hall. Pittodrie is 1.5 miles from the same point. The way some people are talking it's like the Dons are moving to Laurencekirk or something.
There's already a bus from Union St to Westhill every 12 minutes that takes about 20-25 minutes to get to Kingsford - try getting the bus from Hol

Yes, that's basically the vast majority of whingers angle.
They've had it perfect forever, now those on the west of the city and us Tuechters are going to have a much easier time getting to games, they've spat the dummy.
It's time all Dons fans got behind this, there's already the all to predictable opposition groups been formed in wifeswaphill and kingswells to fight this. Bellfield was the perfect site, it's long since gone thanks to Willie Walton, this if while a couple miles further out is the best we'll ever get. Don;t let the NIMBYs kill this again, or we'll be looking at Inverurie or Portlethen next.

I don’t think there’s any dandy that wants to sit in a ‘crumbling wreck’ as you call it – or at least appreciate it’s long overdue that something is happening with the stadium.
Think the issue is that many have grave concerns about moving the club out of the city.
I live out of town now and drive to most games – but in my ***** and 20s, the city centre and the walk to the ground were all part of the same day out. That can be a big attraction for home and away fans alike – if you add an element of hassle to that, then we will lose fans – not everyone in Scottish football is a hardcore fan that will go come what may, losing the option of

Good post Jam min
I have to sacrifice the days i do use public transport to Pittodrie as i will have to drive as there isnt a bus and obviously a train from Oldmeldrum to Westhill. But i will be their quicker driving than i would driving to Pittodrie. Happy days. I support Aberdeen FC i dinna support beers(as much as much as i like them) so driving more games is a sacrifice im willing to make.
But does anyone really think that public transport wont be adjusted to suit Saturdays. Ill bet you there will be more bus services out that way on a saturday. The money that would take in for first buses/stagecoach will not be ignored. I would even say services from teuchter towns will pop up too. So instead of a walk down King Street it will be a 15 minute bus jaunt. As said above in a brilliant post by AberdeenArnold "We fear change" and thats all it is

Cheers. Too important a topic to be ignored.
The facebook group for wifeswaphill nimby's (say NO to Kingsford) is already in full flow, there's gonna be an even bigger stink than there was at kingswells.
Get behind this before it blows up again, Pittodrie is a terrible stadium now, adn it's clear it's never going to be renovated, accept that, and get behind probably the best alternative location we've any chance of getting.
re: Breaking News - New Stadium and Training Facilities
fatshaft - what can they do. they can moan all they want but stadium is not in same council area as Westhill. Westhill is Aberdeenshire where as the ground is Aberdeen City. The fact the city council are behind it should be seen as a positive stance.
There will always be objectors - they tend to be the ones that are heard. But all Aberdeen fans do need to get behind this.
re: Breaking News - New Stadium and Training Facilities
Im not sure it matters that they are in the 'shire and the stadium is in the city boundary - they will still have the right to object I believe, so we can't stick two fingers up and just tell them to feck off. This will likley be a huge bun fight but objections around traffic can be mitigated by pointing to the horrendous daily commutes that already exist...biggest issue will be around noise and the fear mongering over marauding central belt hordes I would suspect. let's just hope it doesn't turn into another AWPR debacle.
re: Breaking News - New Stadium and Training Facilities
Oi Westhillers aka Aberdeenshirers. GIRFUY its still in the city. Fits the difference between a big f@ck off industrial/office area actually in your toon and a fitba stadium thats nae even in the same county that will create less traffic 1 day a fortnight than the industrial estate does five days a week every week. Again GIRUY
That is all
