Sack him, save our season

It is possible to get promoted with a sub-par manager, a 5/10 manager, if you like.

We nearly achieved this with Fenton, who was bloody awful at man management and managed to ruin Scanlon's career. The squad Sirrel had built was so good, it almost didn't matter. In the 75/6 season, we were really close, little things like a totally pointless Alan Birchenall handball at Blackburn being the fine line between success and failure. In the middle of a promotion campaign, that was our 4th consecutive defeat and we only missed out by 4 points in the end. That would have meant going up before Forest, and the failure to do so had a huge impact.

The thing is though, this should not require fine lines, the division is there for the taking and even if we get prompted, the promised review should still go ahead. Winning at Grimbsy doesn't make SM a good manager any more than losing to Barrow makes him a bad one, and the bros will have a decision to make.

That?s a great question. Based on absolutely nothing other a gut feel I would say yes but very rare indeed.

Has Maynard been sub-par this season? I would say no, I had my doubts he would be but the results and table say I was wrong. If people feel he has been then it?s the much improved recruitment that has hidden this.

The owners are very analytical and very detailed in their methods so the review will be very thorough based on more than just the league finish and outcome. Saying that if promotion was the aim and it successfully achieved then you can?t get rid of a head coach. The interesting part is if we finish in playoffs but don?t go up

90 minutes of football - the outcome of one single match - can make the difference between becoming a club legend to the point of having a statue erected outside the ground, or being forgotten.

Yeah, but sub-par team not sub-par coach. Last 5 games or so we've had to field teams with probably 4 players not up to league 2 standard. Poor recruitment. We're OK if everyone is fit but with the injuries there is just no depth in the squad. No doubt selling Macca, Nemane and Crowley has cost us big time and for those of you who knock Nemane and Crowley they are both in the League 2 top 5 for assists whereas we don't have a player in the top 25!! No creativity in midfield - recruitment problem not coaching.

This is true of every squad tho? Forest have had an exceptional season but have been fortunate that key players have been fit.
Take Walsall as an example? essentially lost there best player and there form has nose dived.
If Notts can get and keep JJ and Didz fit and firing, we will win promotion. If not, it becomes more of a lottery.

We are better than OK when everyone is fit. Although how many games this season have we had everyone fit, not sure we know how good we are when fully fit.

If you have this many injuries, which you can?t predict, then your squad depth will be exposed for any team in the league. Look at Chesterfield they have a great squad and have been hit by lots of injuries like us and have struggled as a result.

Selling all three that you mentioned for the fees offered was the right decision in my opinion. Injuries have hammered our creativity naturally but we still score goals we have all season

We finished exactly where a crap defence put us.

I fail to see the point in history lessons or comparison to other teams issues. This is about NCFC now, not last season or the NL season or Walsall's squad or any other manager... us, now!
